Refining will become the only way to transform the coal chemical industry

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, China will work with relevant countries to build six major economic corridors, namely, China-Mongolia-Russia, the New Eurasian Land Bridge, China-Central Asia-West Asia, China-Insouth China Peninsula, China-Pakistan and Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar. We will jointly build the strategic fulcrum of the Maritime Silk Road and unblock the Belt and Road economic Corridor. After long-term development, the traditional coal chemical production technology has matured and is in the stage of oversupply, but there is structural excess capacity and has the characteristics of high energy consumption, high pollution, low resource utilization rate and low added value. The new coal chemical industry uses coal as raw material to produce traditional petrochemical products, which is a unique new coal chemical industry route opened up in China during the last round of oil price peak, mainly including coal to olefin (MTO), coal to oil, coal to gas and other routes.

1. Prospects of China's coal chemical industry market

China's coal chemical industry will move towards high-quality development in the future. Accelerate the technological optimization and upgrading of modern coal chemical industry, vigorously promote original innovation and integrated innovation, and accelerate the formation of a new situation of high-end and differentiated development of terminal products. At the same time, do a good job in downstream development, continue to extend the industrial chain, promote the shift and upgrade of modern coal chemical industry, and achieve green and high-quality development. Deep integration with petrochemical and other industries has become the development direction of modern coal chemical industry in the future. The "Modern coal chemical Industry Innovation and Development Layout Plan" proposes that the integration of coal chemical and electric heating and multi-generation should be adopted to vigorously promote the integrated development of modern coal chemical industry and coal mining, electric power, petrochemical, chemical fiber, salt chemical, metallurgical and building materials industries, extend the industrial chain, expand industrial clusters, and improve resource conversion efficiency and industrial competitiveness. For example, the use of coal heating integration technology, the construction of crude oil processing, power generation, heating, hydrogen production in one of the joint equipment. Take advantage of the mutual supply and demand of modern coal chemical industry and crude oil processing intermediate products, and carry out demonstration of joint processing of coal and crude oil. In terms of integration with the chemical fiber industry, the development of coal-to-aromatics and coal-to-ethylene glycol, the promotion of diversification of chemical fiber raw materials, and the implementation of coal-based chemical fiber raw materials demonstration projects.

2020 China coal chemical industry development status and market prospect scale analysis

Coal chemical technology mainly uses chemical technology to process coal and transform coal resources into gas fuel, liquid fuel or solid fuel. At present, China can make coal into natural gas, gas, methanol, olefin, etc. The raw materials required for these common processing are still mainly coal, and coal chemical technology can diversify the application forms of coal. Improving the utilization rate of coal in various forms to enhance the sustainable development of domestic energy is also in line with the energy strategy. At present, China's coal enterprises show a good development trend, and the traditional coal enterprises have transformed into modern coal chemical industry. This successful transformation reflects that China's policy adjustment is very correct. China's coal chemical industry has relatively advantageous conditions for development, and in the process of transformation, enterprises can complete the upgrading of the industrial chain according to their actual situation and the current development of resources, reflecting the strength of the modern coal chemical industry. With the increasing social awareness of environmental protection, new requirements have been put forward for the green production of coal chemical industry. Therefore, coal chemical enterprises should strengthen the exploration of coal chemical industry in environmental protection technology, which is not only conducive to the further improvement of the technical level of coal chemical industry, but also conducive to reducing the negative impact on the natural environment, so as to provide a positive role in promoting the green and sustainable development of China's coal chemical industry.

At present, China has built 1.63 million tons of coal to oil, 7.2 million tons of coal (methanol) to olefin, 1.7 million tons of coal to ethylene glycol and 3.1 billion cubic meters of coal to natural gas production capacity. At present, China's coal chemical industry base pattern has taken shape, and a number of coal chemical industry clusters have been cultivated in Ningdong, Ningxia, Ordos, Inner Mongolia, Yulin, Shaanxi, Jundong and Yili, Xinjiang, creating conditions for comprehensive coal utilization, regional waste management and upstream and downstream industries. In recent years, with the breakthrough of key technologies of modern coal chemical industry and the successive completion and production of demonstration projects, the development of China's coal chemical industry has begun to take shape, and gradually changed from traditional to modern. China has successfully developed advanced coal gasification technologies with independent intellectual property rights, such as multi-nozzle opposing coal water slurry, space pulverized coal pressurization, coal to oil, coal to olefin, coal to ethylene glycol and other coal to energy chemical product synthesis technologies, and large-scale coal chemical equipment such as 80,000 grade or more large air separation, million tons of coal to oil reactors, 600,000 tons of methanol to olefin reactors, etc. The level of modern coal chemical technology and equipment has been in the international leading ranks.

Domestic modern coal chemical projects are mainly concentrated in Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Shanxi, Xinjiang and other places, and the industrial development of the park and base pattern has taken shape. At present, the coal chemical industry bases with scale are mainly Ordos coal chemical industry base in Inner Mongolia, Ningdong Energy Chemical Industry base in Ningxia, Yuheng coal chemical industry base in Shaanxi, and coal chemical industry bases in Zhundong, Yili, Tuha and Hefeng in Xinjiang. Most of the modern coal chemical industry bases contain upstream and downstream related industries such as coal mining and modern coal chemical industry, and some have realized multi-generation with petrochemical, electric power and other industries. In addition to coal to natural gas, China's coal to olefins, coal to oil, coal to aromatics, coal to ethylene glycol technology and industrialization level have been comprehensively leading the world, China in the field of modern coal chemical industry has climbed to the highest point in the world. It is expected that in 2020, the scale of modern coal chemical industry will reach: 12 million tons of coal-to-oil, 16 million tons of coal-to-olefin, 6 million tons of coal-to-ethylene glycol, 20 billion cubic meters of coal-to-natural gas, and 1 million tons of coal-to-aromatic hydrocarbons.

2. Future development direction of coal chemical industry

In the future development of the coal chemical industry, its industrial layout is mainly located in the coastal area with convenient transportation. In addition, the development trend of the combination of petrochemical, electric power, steel, coal chemical, petrochemical and other industries is more obvious. The optimal configuration combination between the use of industries to form the industrial layout of coal, oil, electricity and other energy recovery and cascade utilization is conducive to the comprehensive development of the industry and the rational use of energy, as well as the formation of a large-scale, integrated and efficient industrial development area. The traditional coal chemical industry must accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the industry has become a consensus. Relying on technological innovation to promote the integrated development of modern coal chemical industry with petrochemical industry and fine chemical industry, through the transformation of coal "from black to white, from white to fine", and realize the transformation of enterprises to low-carbon environmental protection and new energy, the traditional coal chemical industry can still break through the development bottleneck and regain vitality. We will strive to promote the development of coal chemical industry in the direction of refinement, high-end and cluster.

With the continuous development of China's economy, the industrial output value continues to increase, the demand for chemical raw materials mainly based on coal chemical products is also expanding, coupled with the increasing tension of petroleum resources, the domestic coal chemical industry has also been greatly developed. The state also continues to introduce policies to encourage the development of the coal chemical industry, from the perspective of output, the output of traditional coal chemical products continues to increase, leading to overcapacity, especially after the coal production capacity, the traditional coal chemical industry has a great impact, the traditional coal chemical industry continues to shrink, energy-saving and environmentally friendly new coal chemical industry has become an important development direction of the coal chemical industry. The technical system of coal chemical industry in China is not complete at present, which brings negative influence to the further development of China's coal chemical industry. In this severe situation, we should quickly establish a coal chemical technology system to maintain the smooth progress of coal chemical production. Therefore, coal chemical technology will develop in the direction of systematization.

3. Analysis of the development trend of coal chemical industry

The development space of modern coal chemical industry is larger than that of traditional coal chemical industry. The economic development of coal chemical industry and China's energy security issues still occupy a large proportion in China. Developing China's modern coal chemical industry is an important way to reduce the dependence on foreign oil, to further safeguard China's energy security, and to give play to China's comparative advantages in coal resources. We also need to improve the independent scientific and technological innovation of China's coal chemical industry, so as to further reduce the dependence on foreign technology, to independently develop the key equipment of the coal chemical industry, so as to accelerate the development of the industry. The development of China's coal chemical industry, we need to adhere to the "reference, introduction, innovation, green, independent scientific research" and other concepts, need to see the inherent nature through the construction of demonstration projects, accelerate the pace of development of independent intellectual property technology and the high-level development of coal equipment, improve the utilization rate of energy, in the process of development to reduce the adverse impact on the ecological environment.

From the current development trend, coal gasification technology needs to develop in the direction of high efficiency and scale. Coal gasification technology is an important part of the development of coal chemical technology, the state needs to increase investment, timely update the relevant equipment and instruments, and at the same time need to introduce relevant policies to guide the development of coal liquefaction technology to the direction of commercialization, government departments should organize relevant technical exchange activities, strengthen international economic and trade cooperation, academic exchanges. The development of coal coking technology towards energy saving and environmental protection is of great significance for improving China's coal chemical technology, and can also save energy and protect the environment.
