ALSTOM's power conversion division offers a full range of drive and automation products suitable for all variable speed applications, including pumps, fans, compressors, extruders, etc., with a power range exceeding 100 megawatts. ALSTOM drivers are widely used in the petroleum, natural gas, cement industries, water and waste treatment, power distribution utilities, and numerous other industrial applications. Low voltage AC drive product line

1. ALSPA MV500- Simplified Control Driver (0.25kW to 15kW)

The ALSPA MV500 series low-power drivers are designed to reduce cost and complexity. In most applications, installing and using ALSPA MV500 does not require driver knowledge.

2. ALSPA MV1000- Intelligent Low Power Drive (0.75kW to 45kW)

The ALSPA MV1000 series is a high-performance, low loss variable speed control unit suitable for applications with a power range of 0.75 kW to 45 kW. It complements the well-known ALSPA MD2000 series in a lower power range and uses the same software and user interface.

Flexible control structure: Standard configuration can choose from five control structures (VVVF frequency control, speed control with/without encoder, torque control with/without encoder)

On site directional control: Advanced control technology integrated on the chip, whether equipped with encoder feedback or not, can achieve excellent control dynamics and accuracy

Medium voltage drive and dedicated drive system

1. ALSPA VDM and CDM - Medium Voltage Drivers

ALSTOM's medium voltage drive series includes voltage source and current source inverters suitable for all asynchronous, synchronous, and induction motor applications. All industrial needs are met within the medium voltage drive range: new transmission devices, modifications to existing constant speed devices, high torque capability, wide speed range, selection of optimal standard power supply voltage at MV level, selection of optimal standard motor, high efficiency, short-circuit protection, etc.

The medium voltage drive series offers many powerful features: 2 or 4 quadrant capability, excellent dynamic performance, sine wave output waveform, lowest cable cost, modern digital control, complete historical records and fault diagnosis, fieldbus and serial interface options, compatibility with the ALSTOM monitoring software series.

Compared with competitive driving systems, the advantages brought by medium voltage range technology include: close to unity power factor, reactive power compensation through active front-end, flexible power system connection, low harmonic distortion, regenerative energy, and direct connection up to 10kV without the need for output transformers.

2. SYNC HRODRIVE and Static Inverter - Control and Start of Synchronous Motor

SYNC HRODRIVE is a current source, load commutated inverter that enables smooth speed control of synchronous motors. These drivers are highly suitable for applications that require high dynamic performance for constant torque loads or centrifugal loads. The multifunctional and energy-saving control system used internally by SYNC HRODRIVE can achieve a return on investment period as short as 12 months within the process working cycle compared to fixed speed drives.

Features: Complete historical records and fault diagnosis, four quadrant capability, good dynamic performance and quick response to load changes, no fuse design (using fast electronic protection).

Soft start application: In this case, SYNC HRODRIVE is used as a static frequency converter to start large synchronous motors. The design and manufacturing of SFC require comprehensive expertise in power electronics technology, as well as the ability to ensure the best match between the start-up SFC and the machine. ALSTOM has extensive experience and expertise in providing start-up systems, and technological advancements have led to significant simplification of converters and related control systems.

3. CYCLODRIVE - Induction or synchronous motor control for low-speed/high torque applications

CYCLODRIVE is a series of cyclic inverter drive systems that are highly suitable for applications involving high power, harsh operating cycles, optimal dynamic performance, and low-speed operation. The CYCLODRIVE series meets the requirements of excellent dynamic performance, four quadrant capability, wide weak magnetic range, high motor design freedom (such as adapting to narrow spaces, low inertia, etc.), and high torque throughout the entire speed range.

Features: 1000:1 speed range, complete historical records and fault diagnosis, simple and validated converter, significant advantages over DC motor technology, suitable for induction or synchronous motors.

Typical applications: high-performance rolling mills and roller drives, mine hoists, ship propulsion, semi autogenous mills and ball mills, cement mills, large conveyors and crushers, testing facilities, large centrifuges, etc.


Advanced driving technology

1. ALSPA MV3000- Revolution in Drive Technology (22kW to 315kW)

The innovative ALSPA MV3000 is ALSTOM's fifth generation AC variable speed drive. Its design runs through the concept of 'easy ownership', setting new standards for variable speed drives in terms of size, ease of use, and process usability. With a power of up to 3600kW and a voltage of up to 690V, it has VVVF, encoder, vector and flux vector control modes, as well as a wide range of application functions.

Three key areas for improvement:

MicroCubicle ™ Concept: The ALSPA MV3000, capable of up to 315kW, adopts a chassis unit format and utilizes MicroCubic technology ™ concept This means that all components can be accessed from the front, there is space inside the unit for specific application enhancements, and the bookshelf format and side-by-side installation can achieve maximum packing density.

Drive Data Manager ™: The keyboard concept has been redefined, featuring menu navigation, online help, quick start, and instrument functions, all wrapped in an ergonomic large, easy to read display design.

NoStop ™ Concept: By monitoring key aspects of the process, environment, and itself, MV3000 can not only protect itself, but also take intelligent actions under adverse process conditions, which means higher factory availability and process problem warning.

DEITA format: ranging from 315kW to 3600kW, ALSPA MV3000 is provided in DEITA format. The DEITA format driver can be provided as a set of components ready for installation in a cabinet, or as a fully built and tested package ready for on-site installation. The DEITA format driver adopts a modular structure and uses the same control system as the ALSPA MV3000 chassis unit NoStop ™ Concept and Drive Data Manager ™, And combined with up to 6 DEITA inverter modules running in parallel.

2. ALSPA MD2000- Active Energy Management (18.5kW to 4.5MW)

What does AEM (Active Energy Management) mean? The ALSPA MD2000 AEM unit ensures power friendly characteristics regardless of operating conditions, as the motor pulse inverter MPS is also used as the main pulse inverter NPS, utilizing active front-end technology.

The main features of AEM are:

Control the phase position of the power supply current: phase shifting operation can be performed even at low levels, which means that regardless of the cos φ of the motor, only the required active power (unity power factor) needs to be obtained from the power supply.

Bidirectional energy control: Regardless of whether the drive is electric or braking, energy can be obtained from or fed back to the power source, avoiding the conversion of heat during the braking process.

Extremely high dynamic line current control: Adapting to the extremely high dynamics of motor current control, providing unique dynamic system response.

Sinusoidal line side current control: By using PWM switching IGBT semiconductor switches, non sinusoidal power supply currents that occur in diode rectifiers or thyristor inverters are avoided, reducing the line current distortion coefficient to 3% to 6%.

Typical applications:

Wind turbines: ALSTOM has provided stator or rotor AEM applications with power up to 1.5MW.

Test bench driver: A test bench for motors, gearboxes, rear axles, and complete drive systems, now equipped with ALSPA MD2000 AEM, enabling it to load the test object under real load and speed conditions.


DC driver

1. ALSPA VNTC (single quadrant) and WNTC (four quadrant) digital DC drivers

ALSPA VNTC (single quadrant) and WNTC (four quadrant) are compact, flexible, microprocessor controlled digital drivers used to power DC motors ranging from 9kW to 1.25MW. These drivers are fully configurable, and can be configured locally through the keypad or remotely through a PC. They can communicate with any data processing system through ALSPA F8000, WorldFIP, or any fieldbus or industrial network.

1. ALSPA DNTA-6 Pulse Digital Starter (19A to 1000A)

The ALSPA DNTA 6 pulse digital starter using vector control is a new step forward in starting induction motors. It effectively provides gradual and optimal starting for the motor, as well as controlled process deceleration and improved availability.
