+5V: Each slot has a maximum current of 2A (including the total current of PMC stations 1 and 2).
+3.3V: Each slot has a maximum of 3A (the carrier board itself consumes 150mA, and the total PMC current needs to be added).
+12V/-12V: Maximum 200mA per slot.
Typical troubleshooting guide:
PMC module cannot be recognized: Check if the IDSEL, clock, and PCI request/authorization signals on the P0 connector are normal. Confirm if the backplane is providing the correct clock signal or if the 33/66MHz crystal oscillator on the carrier board is oscillating.
Frequent system crashes or data errors: If the PMC module has high power consumption, it is highly likely to exceed the limit of 5V/2A or 3.3V/3A for a single slot. Please recalculate the power consumption load of the entire system and replace it with a more powerful VME backplane if necessary.
Interrupt suspension or conflict: Check if the four secondary interrupt request lines generated by the carrier board are correctly mapped. Confirm whether the Interrupt rotation mechanism of the VME backplane is effective to avoid multiple PMC modules competing for the same fault level.
Rear I/O signal loss: Check if the 5th row pins of P2 (VME J2) connector are aligned with the backplane adapter board, and confirm if the physical jumper or software mapping between the front 25 pin D-sub connector and the rear signal is consistent.
Selection replacement and lifecycle management
For engineers facing the discontinuation of outdated modules, DP-VME-5114 provides an excellent replacement path. The ordering code (DP VME 5114 3 0 0) provides flexible options:
3 represents Commercial version, and 6 represents Rugged version.
PMC 13 represents air cooled, and 6 represents conduction cooled.
Its backward compatibility with PCI r2.2 5V I/O allows it to communicate directly using the existing P0 backplane PCI bus without replacing the old main control CPU board. Engineers only need to confirm whether the VME backplane of the original system supports P0 wiring and whether there is enough slot space to complete the upgrade.
