Communication Expansion and Wiring Avoiding Pitfalls
GF1-10 provides two slots (Slot 0 and Slot 1), supporting the installation of various communication modules (such as connecting to PLC or fieldbus). If two communication modules are used, it is possible to achieve simultaneous communication between two systems.
In the wiring process, engineers must be extremely cautious. System Port is a standard RS232 interface, but it is not isolated or floating. This means that if there is a ground potential difference between your laptop and controller, directly plugging in the cable may burn out the interface chip. In addition, pin 9 of this port can be used to output+5V voltage (via the JP8 jumper on the motherboard), but this output has neither short-circuit protection nor overload protection and can only be used for additional hardware from the original factory. Do not supply power to third-party devices at will.
For fieldbus or communication modules, it is necessary to use connectors with metal or metalized housings (such as D-Sub 9-pin) and ensure that the cable shielding layer achieves low impedance overlap with the connector housing. Data cables must be shielded because during high-speed transmission of digital signals, the shielding layer can only effectively resist asymmetric transient interference when connected to both ends of the device (or equipotential connection). The specific shielding steps are as follows: peel off the cable, cut the shielding braided mesh short by about 3cm, fold it over and wrap it around the cable sheath, cover it with heat shrink tubing to ensure that a 5-8mm shielding layer is exposed, and finally use the cable clamp (Strain relief) on the connector housing to firmly press the shielding layer.
IP65 protection and installation environment limitations
Many old equipment upgrades require an IP65 protection level. But relying solely on the GF1-10 device itself and the accompanying sealing ring is not enough, especially when the control cabinet panel is thin, the fastening screws cannot provide uniform clamping force. At this point, a dedicated Conter frame (auxiliary compression frame, order number 6520963100) must be ordered and installed from the rear of the equipment to ensure even force distribution on the sealing ring.
In terms of environmental control, the maximum allowable ambient temperature for GF1-10 is 50 ° C. During installation, a wall gap of at least 3cm must be left around the equipment, and the lower heat dissipation groove cannot be blocked by cables. It is strictly prohibited to expose the screen to direct sunlight. Ultraviolet radiation not only accelerates the aging of the LCD, but may also cause local overheating of the infrared panel, resulting in misoperation.
