CAN bus configuration: TAE 151 provides two CAN interfaces (X1, X2), using an 8-pin Weidm ü ller connector. The CAN bus requires the correct setting of station numbers (0-15) and baud rates. Set the station number through DIP switches (8-bit): switches 1-4 set the station number, switches 5-6 set the baud rate (00=615kBit/60m, 10=500kBit/s/80m, 01=250kBit/s/160m, 11=125kBit/320m), switch 7 sets PS/2 master-slave (0=slave, 1=master), and switch 8 sets the CAN terminal resistance (150 Ω). Attention: Each CAN system station number must be unique, and terminal devices must have terminal resistors enabled. CAN cables should use twisted pair shielded wires, with a large area of low resistance grounding for the shielding layer.
USB interface: The front panel has 3 USB Type-A V1.1 interfaces (X5, X6, X7), and the rear panel has 1 USB Type-A V1.1 (X3). Note: X3 and X5 cannot be used simultaneously. The USB interface can be used to connect keyboards, mice, storage devices, etc. But BIOS settings are only available when the keyboard is directly connected to the USB interface, using a USB hub may cause errors. In addition, many commercially available USB devices do not comply with specifications, and it is recommended to test them before use.
ESD protection: USB devices are usually not shielded, and ESD may cause interference. Before connecting or disconnecting any equipment, static electricity should be discharged through the grounding bus.
Common troubleshooting
Abnormal touch function: If the touch is inaccurate or ineffective, the touch screen needs to be recalibrated. Calibration data is stored in the IPC, not in the display unit. It is necessary to recalibrate every time the display unit or IPC is replaced. In addition, automatic display detection requires support from both parties, otherwise the resolution needs to be manually set in BIOS or OS.
CAN communication failure: Check if the station number conflicts, if the baud rate matches, and if the terminal resistance is set correctly. Incorrect DIP switch settings are a common cause. Simultaneously confirm the CAN cable shielding and twisted pair connection.
Display Exception: If the display resolution is incorrect, check the BIOS/OS settings of IPC. If automatic detection fails, manual setting of 1024x768 is required. Also check if the S-DVI cable connection is secure.
USB device not recognized: Confirm that the device complies with USB specifications. Try connecting the keyboard directly to enter BIOS settings. Avoid using a USB hub for BIOS setup.
Power supply issue: If the display unit does not light up, measure whether the S-DVI cable power supply voltage is between+18-30V DC. Check if the IPC power capacity is sufficient.
Environmental interference: If there is touch drift or communication error, check whether the grounding is good, whether the shielding layer is connected, and whether it is within the allowable temperature and humidity range.
Maintenance and Cleaning
To extend the service life of TAE 151, it is necessary to regularly clean the touch screen and housing. Be sure to turn off the terminal power before cleaning to avoid accidental triggering. Use a soft damp cloth dipped in screen cleaner, water, mild detergent, or alcohol. The cleaning solution should be sprayed on the cloth, not directly on the terminal, to prevent the liquid from entering the ventilation hole or electronic components. It is strictly prohibited to use abrasive cleaners, chemical solvents, or hard objects to scratch the touch screen. If you come into contact with toxic or corrosive chemicals, you should clean them carefully immediately. The ASA plastic shell is resistant to most chemicals, but contact with toluene, acetone, ether, and ethyl acetate should be avoided. The touch film is resistant to mineral oil, alcohol, machine oil, cleaning agents, etc. Suggest operating the touch screen with your fingers to extend its lifespan.
