Food security has also become a global concern in recent years, with countries seeking to strengthen their efforts to achieve self-sufficient food production while building resilient food supply lines. As a small country, Singapore is particularly focused on Food safety and quality, and the Singapore Food Agency SFA has set a "30 X 30" target to meet 30 percent of the local food demand by 2030. However, according to data analysis, current food supply only covers 10% of local demand, so the target implies a 20% increase in production within 10 years.

As targets are set and Singapore becomes more demanding in this area, such as high-tech and aquaculture farms, it is believed that the demand for people with skills and knowledge in this area will increase.

Undergraduate life sciences program in Singapore
