Paper pulping: a key process for sustainable paper production

Waste paper recycling plays an important role in today's pulp and paper industry, and this comprehensive large-scale use of secondary fibers makes the pulping process more sustainable. Waste paper pulping process has been very mature, can use 100% of waste pulp to produce high-quality cardboard, industrial cardboard, facial tissue, toilet paper, newsprint, copy paper and other paper products. Among them, corrugated paper, box board paper and newsprint are representative paper products with successful application of secondary fibers. Special equipment for waste paper treatment has been continuously improved, making waste paper recycling more efficient. The following will explore the process and key steps of waste paper pulping according to the basic process sequence.

1. Sorting and quality assurance of waste paper:

The success of waste paper recycling depends to a large extent on the quality of waste paper. Due to the declining quality of waste paper and the complexity of its composition, it is particularly important to collect, sort and classify waste paper economically and effectively. Ensuring the quality of waste paper raw materials is a key step in realizing waste paper recycling.

2. Separation of pulp and pollutants:

Shredding is the process of untangling and dispersing waste paper fibers while promoting the separation of ink and other contaminants from the fibers. This helps to break down the contaminants in the waste paper into smaller particles, which can be easily removed in subsequent processes. At the same time, the pollutant particles should be kept as intact as possible during the dispersion process in order to better screen and remove slag.

3, screening and slag removal:

Screening is the key process after pulp crushing, the impurities in the waste paper are screened out. Various impurities in waste paper, as long as its size exceeds the width of the screen hole or screen seam, it will be effectively screened out. Screening is divided into impurity screening and grading screening to further improve the quality of pulp.

4. Dispersion and kneading:

The dispersion and kneading process has multiple functions, including making the waste impurity particles smaller, promoting the separation of ink and fiber, homogenizing the pulp, and applying it to bleaching. Dispersion equipment plays the role of thermal pretreatment, chemical mixing, and auxiliary role of bleaching reactor in the bleaching process, while also eliminating microbial contamination and improving fiber characteristics.

5. Deinking and bleaching:

The deinking process is a series of operations that separate the ink from the fiber in the waste paper. Through design and operation, the ink is separated from the fiber and the ink particles dispersed in the pulp are separated. Bleaching is to remove the color substance in the pulp, so that the pulp can obtain a certain whiteness and appropriate properties.

6, to cope with the challenge of adhesive:

Adhesives are one of the challenges of paper recycling, especially in factories that make cardboard. Although most adhesives can be removed by screening and slagging, fine adhesives are still a problem. To meet this challenge, adhesive formulations that are compatible with paper recycling need to be developed.

7. Sustainable Development:

Recycling of waste paper is closely related to the sustainable development of pulp and paper making. By adopting a sustainable paper recycling process, you can reduce environmental impact and maximize resource use.
