The large-scale application of new energy vehicles must be decoupled from fossil energy and put the electrification of vehicles on the basis of green energy. The future car will be a unit in the energy Internet system and an important carrier for the storage and consumption of renewable energy.
"It is a big challenge for the transport sector to achieve 'carbon peak and carbon neutrality'." Chen Qingtai, chairman of the China Electric Vehicle 100 Committee, pointed out recently that China's vehicle electrification process should not be based on the development of the automobile industry to set goals, but should be in accordance with the realization of "carbon peak, carbon neutrality" vision backward road traffic carbon emission limits at each time point, converted to the proportion of vehicle electrification, and accordingly plan and promote the construction of clean energy, smart grid, charging pile, etc. This is a systematic and huge project, time is tight and the task is heavy.
"Carbon neutrality" brings new opportunities
"From the experience of developed countries, peak carbon time in the transport sector tends to lag behind the country as a whole." CAI Tuanjie, deputy director of the Department of Transport Services of the Ministry of Transport, said frankly that in the face of the vision of "reaching the peak of carbon and carbon neutrality", it is a long way to go to promote the green development of the transport industry.
On the one hand, carbon reduction targets will be achieved, and on the other hand, the total number of cars will continue to increase. At present, the number of cars in China is only 173, which is still a big gap from developed countries. This means that there is still huge room for growth in China's mobile travel.
The promotion of new energy vehicles is seen as the only way to meet carbon reduction commitments. Zou Ji, CEO and China president of the Energy Foundation, believes that fuel vehicles are still the main force in the market in the short term, and improving their economy and emission standards is the main way to reduce carbon. However, in the long run, electric vehicles should be fully "spearhead", the industry has only 5-10 years to prepare, and the technological maturity of electric vehicles and the convenience of charging facilities should be completely changed during this period.
"The vision of 'carbon peak, carbon neutrality' points out the direction, expands the space and brings important opportunities for the development of new energy vehicles." Li Gao, director of the Department of Climate Change of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, pointed out that the automobile industry should speed up the deep transformation to low carbon, near zero carbon and zero carbon, unswervingly vigorously develop electric vehicles, increase investment, strengthen the construction of relevant infrastructure, forge the long board of the green low-carbon industrial chain supply chain, make up the core process, special materials, manufacturing equipment and other short board weaknesses, and enhance international competitiveness. And in this process, to achieve the corner of China's automobile industry overtaking, electric vehicles into China's advanced manufacturing and low-carbon manufacturing of a bright business card.
Electrification at scale must be based on green energy
In China's energy structure dominated by fossil energy consumption, the environmental protection of electric vehicles has been controversial.
"Electric vehicles can only be truly 'green' if they run on renewable energy, not fossil fuels." Yating Bai, representative of the United Nations Development Programme in China, pointed out that to regulate the full-life cycle emissions of electric vehicles, it is necessary to regulate not only the emissions of the user end, but also the emissions of battery production and recycling.
Sun Fengchun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of the Beijing Institute of Technology, believes that there is no advantage in the carbon emissions of new energy vehicles compared with traditional fuel vehicles in the production and recycling stage, but in the use stage, the carbon emissions advantages of electric vehicles are obvious. According to the 20% penetration rate of electric vehicles in 2030, it is expected to reduce emissions by about 486 million tons in 2030. Therefore, increasing the proportion of clean electricity, increasing the promotion and application of new energy vehicles, and implementing the cascade utilization of batteries are the key to energy conservation and emission reduction.
"The large-scale application of new energy vehicles must be decoupled from fossil energy and put the electrification of vehicles on the basis of green energy." Chen Qingtai pointed out that the future car will be a unit in the energy Internet system and an important carrier for the storage and consumption of renewable energy. When the grid is close to the peak of discharge, into the trough of charging, electric vehicles will be the best mix with renewable energy.
