Beckhoff C6030-0080 Ultra Compact Industrial Control Computer Complete Selection and Deployment Guide

Technical background and product positioning

Against the backdrop of the rapid advancement of Industry 4.0 and IoT applications, the computing platforms inside control cabinets are facing unprecedented performance and space challenges. Traditional industrial computers often struggle to balance volume, computing power, and scalability, but Beckhoff has launched the C6030 series of ultra compact industrial PCs with its deep accumulation in PC based control. The model C6030-0080, as a representative configuration of the series, integrates the 11th generation Intel Core/Celeron processor platform in an extremely small size, providing a reliable hardware foundation for complex axis control, high load HMI, extremely short cycle time, and large-scale data processing.

Analysis of Core Hardware Specifications

C6030-0080 adopts aluminum zinc die-casting shell, with dimensions of only 132 x 133 x 76 mm (excluding mounting plate) and a protection level of IP20. Its motherboard is a compact integrated motherboard independently developed and produced by Beckhoff, supporting 11th generation Intel Celeron and Core i3/i5/i7 processors. The basic model is equipped with Intel Celeron 6600HE (2.6 GHz dual core, TwinCAT level 50), and users can upgrade to Core i7-11850HE (2.6 GHz eight core, TwinCAT level 80) through order options. In terms of memory, 4 GB DDR4 RAM is standard and can be optionally expanded to 8/16/32/64 GB.

The storage adopts M.2 SSD interface and comes standard with 40 GB M.2 SSD, supporting high-performance NVMe PCIe x4 SSD up to 1280 GB (such as C9900-H842). There are a total of 4 network interfaces: 3 100/1000/2500BASE-T (2.5 GbE) and 1 100/1000 BASE-T, all onboard. In addition, the onboard RAID 1 controller can be used to achieve mirror redundancy for SATA and NVMe devices. The display output is 2 DisplayPorts, and the USB interface includes 2 USB 3.2 Gen.2 and 2 USB 3.2 Gen.1.

The true flexibility of C6030-0080 is reflected in its rich official options, where engineers can choose different levels of processor, memory, and storage combinations based on specific loads.


Processor Selection Guide

C9900-C639: Upgraded to Core i3-11100HE (2.4 GHz quad core, TC3 level 60). Suitable for small and medium-sized logic control, single axis servo motion control, and basic visualization tasks, replacing the basic Celeron can achieve a multi-core performance improvement of over 25%.

C9900-C640: Upgrade to Core i5-11500HE (2.6 GHz six core, TC3 level 70). Suitable for multi axis synchronous control (such as EtherCAT with 8 or more axes), medium scale data processing, and visual guidance applications with complex algorithms.

C9900-C641: Upgraded to Core i7-11850HE (2.6 GHz octa core, TC3 level 80). This is the highest performance option under the overall dimension, and can be used in harsh scenes such as robot NC interpolation, real-time data analysis, edge computing integration, etc.

Selection suggestion: If the original system uses C6015 but experiences high CPU usage or scan cycle jitter, C6030-0080 paired with i5 or i7 options can be used as a direct performance upgrade path. At the same time, it should be noted that the higher the TwinCAT level, the richer the real-time task scale and feature library supported.

C9900-R270: 8 GB (4 → 8 GB), basic multitasking scenario

C9900-R271:16 GB, Including small databases or HMI servers

C9900-R272:32 GB, Cooperate with visual processing or a large number of alarm records

Key points of storage selection

C6030-0080 offers two types of M.2 SSDs: regular 3D flash expansion temperature type and high-performance NVMe PCIe x4 type. The capacity ranges from 40 GB to 1280 GB. The key option numbers are as follows:

C9900-H597 (80 GB), H598 (160 GB), H616 (320 GB), H677 (640 GB) are ordinary expansion temperature SSDs suitable for -20~70 ℃ environments with moderate read and write speeds.

C9900-H653(160 GB)、H654(320 GB)、H818(640 GB)、H842(1280 GB) For high-performance NVMe SSDs, the sequential read and write speed can reach over 3000 MB/s, suitable for high-frequency data acquisition, real-time databases, or as a persistent variable storage disk for TwinCAT.

Key note: RAID 1 functionality is only available for SATA and NVMe devices. If system disk mirroring redundancy is required, it is recommended to purchase two high-performance NVMe SSDs of the same specifications and enable onboard RAID controllers.
