Remove the faulty hard drive and replace it with a new one (recommended with the same model and capacity).

Push the new hard drive into the bay to the locked position.

The RAID controller automatically starts rebuilding, during which the system performance slightly decreases but does not affect business operations.

After the reconstruction is completed, the RAID array is restored to its redundant state.

Attention: Be sure to use industrial grade hard drives or SSDs (such as accessories provided by Beckhoff) and ensure firmware compatibility. For frequent read-write scenarios, it is recommended to use SSD to improve reconstruction speed and system response.

4.3 Alternative Flash Memory Solutions

In addition to mechanical hard drives, the C6650 can also be optionally equipped with NVM Express (NVMe) PCIe x4 plug-in SSD or 2.5-inch SATA SSD for fast boot and low latency data access. For all flash configurations without rotating media, RAID 1 can still provide additional fault tolerance.


Scalability: PCIe and PCI slots

C6650-0060 provides abundant expansion slots and supports full length (up to 210mm) cards:

2× PCIe x1

2× PCIe x4

1 x PCIe x16 (can be used for high-performance graphics cards, GPU acceleration cards, or dedicated communication cards)

2 x PCI (compatible with traditional 32-bit 5V/3.3V cards)

All slots are equipped with card holders to enhance vibration resistance and ensure reliable contact in industrial vibration environments. This flexible scalability allows users to integrate:

Additional network cards (such as PROFINET, EtherCAT slave cards)

Data acquisition card (high-precision analog input/output)

Image acquisition card (Camera Link, GigE Vision)

Motion control dedicated card (such as axis control card with its own DSP)

Power supply: AC and DC options

C6650-0060 comes standard with a 100~240V AC full range power supply, suitable for the global power grid. But to meet the DC power supply needs of industrial sites, two 24V DC power modules are provided as options (which will occupy one serial port bit):

C9900-P208: Standard 24V DC input, without UPS.

C9900-P209:24V DC input, integrated uninterruptible power supply (UPS), can be temporarily powered by internal capacitors or battery packs in case of external power interruption, allowing the system to shut down normally and save data.

If choosing C9900-P209, it can also be equipped with an external battery pack C9900-U330 (3.4Ah, VRLA-AGM sealed lead-acid battery, 0-50 ℃), installed on a DIN rail, to extend the power-off holding time. In addition, external 230V/115V UPS options (C9900-U120/U122) are also available, suitable for scenarios with higher power requirements.

Power redundancy is crucial for critical processes - it is recommended to choose an appropriate power solution based on system power consumption and allowed downtime during project planning.


Beckhoff Industrial PC's Core Design Philosophy

Beckhoff insists on a high degree of independent production depth, including self-developed motherboards, customized BIOS, and strict long-term supply commitments (at least 5-7 years), ensuring the replaceability of spare parts and project continuity. The C6650 series chassis design supports multiple generations of motherboard and processor upgrades, and the same chassis can be used for many years to protect customer investments. In addition, all components have undergone rigorous vibration, impact, and temperature cycling tests to meet industry standards.


Key points for maintenance and troubleshooting

8.1 Daily Inspection Suggestions

Regularly check the SMART status of the hard drive and pay attention to the RAID controller alarm lights.

Clean the air inlet of the chassis (if equipped with a fan) to prevent dust accumulation.

To verify the health status of the battery pack (if equipped with UPS), it is recommended to replace the battery every 2-3 years.

8.2 Common faults and solutions

Possible causes and solutions for the fault phenomenon

The system cannot start, RAID alarm shows a hard disk failure, RAID is in degraded mode, enters RAID BIOS to identify the faulty disk, hot swappable and replaced

Check if the 24V DC voltage is within the allowable range (± 20%) due to frequent blue screen or unstable memory restart or power supply voltage fluctuation; Run memory diagnostics

Expansion card not recognized due to poor PCIe slot contact or resource conflict. Re plug and unplug the card, check the IRQ allocation in BIOS

Excessive temperature leads to poor ventilation in the frequency reduction cabinet or excessive ambient temperature, improving the airflow inside the cabinet. If necessary, forced air cooling should be added

8.3 Spare Parts and Upgrades

Hard drives/SSDs can be ordered as original spare parts from Beckhoff to ensure compatibility.

Memory upgrade requires the use of DDR4-2666 industrial grade memory modules.

To replace the motherboard battery (CR2032), the power must be turned off before operation.


Adaptation of operating system and software

C6650-0060 can be pre installed with Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC/2021 LTSC (64 bit) or Windows Server 2019 at the factory, and pre configured with TwinCAT runtime environment. The LTSC version provides long-term stable support (10 years), suitable for industrial applications. For scenarios that require high real-time performance, it is recommended to disable Windows updates and irrelevant services, and install TwinCAT real-time drivers (such as Ethernet card binding).
