In steel precision machining, tool failure is often not caused by a single factor. Rear blade wear, crescent wear, hot cracks, broken edges, deteriorated surface roughness, and chip entanglement may occur simultaneously, requiring engineers to repeatedly weigh the material, groove type, parameters, and cooling method. The T2100Z coated metal ceramic grade is designed specifically for this type of precision machining pain point. It provides high stability in light to continuous cutting and light intermittent cutting by combining a new metal ceramic substrate with an ABS OTECH coating, making it particularly suitable for precision machining processes that focus on the wear and fracture resistance of the back cutting surface. This article compiles a selection and troubleshooting guide for on-site engineers from six aspects: technical features, scope of application, chip breaker selection, recommended parameters, practical cases, and troubleshooting.
4. Deterioration of surface roughness: Check whether the cutting edge is worn, whether the chips are scratched, and whether the rounded corners of the cutting edge are appropriate. T2100Z is suitable for precision machining. If the surface quality decreases, sharp groove types such as EFE, EEF, or ELB can be used, and the center height and cooling direction should be checked.
5. Poor chip winding or chip removal: Increase the feed or cutting depth, and check if the chip groove matches. When T2100Z is paired with ESU universal groove type, if the chips are still long, it can be switched to ELU, EFL or EFP; If the chips are blocked, the cooling pressure can be increased or the position of the cutting edge can be adjusted.
6. Unstable machining dimensions: Check blade installation, handle rigidity, thermal deformation, and wear. T2100Z has stable dimensions during continuous processing. If there is dimensional drift, priority should be given to checking whether the blade is loose, whether the handle is overhanging too long, and whether the cooling is stable.
