Add baseboard online
In the running state of the system, new Compact or standard baseboards can be added to the existing baseboard chain at any time, provided that the system has configured redundant A/B buses. At this point, it is necessary to use the RH926KW fieldbus separator/terminator to separate the A/B bus signals and achieve uninterrupted communication expansion.
Physical rules for redundant modules
If installing redundant FBM, the two modules must be placed in adjacent odd/even slots (such as slots 1 and 2, 3 and 4). A redundant adapter needs to be installed in the middle of the base plate to ensure seamless switching between the primary and backup modules. Non redundant modules can be placed in any available slot.
Specification for fieldbus terminals and grounding
The stability of fieldbus is the lifeline of DCS system operation. This motherboard does not rely on GPS time synchronization signals, but requires strict handling of bus terminals:
Terminal (RH916RB): When the backplane serves as the last node on the link and there is no need to separate the A/B bus, the RH916RB terminal (DB9 interface) must be installed on the "Module Fieldbus" output port of the backplane. It can absorb signal reflections and ensure the integrity of 2 Mbps HDLC signals.
Separators/Terminators (RH926KW): Used in scenarios where it is necessary to separate A/B bus signals between different cables or connect optional redundant cables.
Common troubleshooting and maintenance points
Based on on-site experience, the following types of faults are relatively common:
The system cannot recognize the module
Check if the DIP switch on the motherboard is set correctly (head end ON, end end OFF).
Confirm whether the module is fully inserted and whether the guide pin of the connector is misaligned.
Check if the 2 Mbps bus cable is securely fastened and if the shielding layer is intact.
Communication loss or signal reflection
Check if the RH916RB terminator is installed at the end of the link.
If using fiber optic extension, check the status of the indicator lights on the FCM2F module to confirm if the bending radius of the optical cable meets the specifications.
Power and ground faults
Although it supports dual 24V DC power supply, it is necessary to ensure that the input voltage range is within 24V DC+5% and -10%. On site wiring requires the use of power cables ranging from 0.4 meters to 2.1 meters to avoid excessive voltage drop.
Ensure reliable connection of external grounding screws to meet explosion-proof and safety requirements of Class I Div 2 or ATEX Zone 2.
Environmental adaptability assessment
In harsh industrial environments, the environmental indicators of the bottom plate are equally critical. The working temperature range of the base plate is -20 ° C to+70 ° C, and it can withstand non condensing relative humidity of 5% to 95%. Its design complies with the G3 (severe) pollution level in ISA S71.04 standard. If installed in a cabinet, it is necessary to ensure that the cabinet has the corresponding protection level (such as IEC 664-1 pollution level 2) to extend the service life of the base plate.
