Overview of Hesman MICE MS20/MS30 Series Switches

The Husman MICE (Modular Industrial Communication Equipment) series switches are high reliability network devices designed specifically for harsh industrial environments. MS20 and MS30, as the core products of this series, are ideal choices for building industrial automation networks due to their unique modular architecture, powerful redundancy functions, and extensive certification. This installation manual provides users with comprehensive guidance from unboxing inspection, safety precautions, mechanical and electrical installation to basic configuration.

These devices are designed to meet the special needs of industrial automation, comply with relevant industry standards, provide extremely high operational reliability even under extreme conditions, and ensure long-term stability and flexibility. This series of switches supports fanless design, can be installed on DIN rails, and provides multiple management methods, including web browsers, Telnet, V.24 interfaces, and network management software such as Industrial HiVision.

Core architecture and model analysis

2.1 Modular design concept

The core of MS20 and MS30 series switches is a basic module that includes all functional units such as switching, management, redundancy, display control, power connections, and media module slots. By inserting different media modules, users can flexibly select the required transmission medium (such as twisted pair or fiber optic) for each port, achieving true on-demand configuration. In addition, two additional media module slots can be added to specific models through the MB20 expansion module to further increase port density.

2.2 Comparison between MS20 and MS30 Series

The main difference between the two series lies in their support for gigabit ports:

MS20 series: Focused on providing a large number of 100Mbps ports. According to different models (MS20-0800, MS20-1600, MS20-2400), 2, 4, and 6 media module slots are provided respectively, which can support up to 8, 16, and 24 100Mbps ports.

MS30 series: In addition to providing 100Mbps ports, two additional Gigabit port slots have been added. Models such as MS30-0802, MS30-1602, and MS30-2402 provide the same number of 100Mbps ports as MS20, as well as 2 Gigabit ports to meet the demand for higher bandwidth.

2.3 Product Code and Model Identification

Husman's products identify device characteristics through a precise coding system. Each position in the product code represents a specific attribute, for example:

Position 1-4 (MS20/MS30): Identify the product series.

Position 6-9: Identify the number of 10/100 Mbit/s ports (e.g. 0800, 1600, 2400).

Position 10: Identify the operating temperature range (S: standard 0 ° C to+60 ° C; T/E: extended -40 ° C to+70 ° C).

Position 11: Identify the voltage range (A: 18-32V DC; C/E: 18-60V DC).

Position 12: Identify certification types (such as A, B, H, S, etc.), covering multiple standards such as CE, UL, ATEX, IEC 61850, etc.


Safety regulations and compliance

As a product aimed at industrial and potentially hazardous areas, the manual emphasizes safety operating procedures in a large amount of space and provides detailed information on various international certifications.

3.1 General Safety Warning

The manual uses three-level warning symbols of "Danger", "Warning", and "Caution" to remind users to pay attention to personal safety and the risk of equipment damage. Key warnings include:

Electric shock risk: It is strictly prohibited to insert sharp objects into the equipment or connection terminals, and do not touch the connection terminals during operation.

Fire risk: When connecting a power source that does not meet the requirements of Limited Power Source or NEC Class 2 and the output power exceeds 100W, the equipment must be installed in a cabinet or fire-resistant enclosure that meets the V-1 fire rating.

Overheating risk: During installation, it is necessary to ensure that all ventilation ducts are unobstructed and that there is at least 10cm of space in front of the equipment.

3.2 Hazardous Locations Use Certification
