Key installation points for expansion modules and NAC circuits
XL1404 adopts a highly modular design, and multiple functional modules can be flexibly stacked through the CHS-M2 and CHS-4N chassis.
1. Installation of core expansion module
LEM-320 (Loop Expansion): During installation, first screw the four 0.937-inch support columns into the corresponding holes on the motherboard, insert the stacking connector into the J3 interface of the CPU, and then press the LEM-320 onto the connector and secure it. The second SLC circuit after expansion is connected to the TB1 terminal of LEM.
Panel circuit modules (such as ICM-4RK, CRM-4RK): These modules are typically installed in the expansion layer of the chassis. Before installation, use a ribbon cable (P/N 71088) to connect the module to the motherboard. ICM-4RK provides 4 programmable NAC outputs, with a total current not exceeding 6A. If using an independent power supply (such as APS-6R), the JP1 and JP2 jumpers on the module need to be cut to isolate the power supply.
2. Safety warnings for NAC and release circuits
Reverse protection: All NAC circuits must be monitored and power limited. For non use NAC circuits, terminal resistors (EOLR, such as 2.2K) must be installed between the B+and B - terminals, otherwise the control panel will report an "open circuit" fault.
Release application fatal error: When the NAC circuit is used for gas fire extinguishing release control, it is absolutely forbidden to enable the ACKUP dip switch (SW6-SW9) on the motherboard. If the backup function is enabled when the microcontroller fails, it may cause the fire extinguishing agent to accidentally spray in a non fire alarm state, resulting in serious safety accidents.
California Code programming: To configure the California code, diode D35 needs to be cut off on the ICM-4RK circuit board.
Peripheral interface and security linkage configuration
XL1404 is not only a fire control panel, but also enables security linkage through interfaces and modules.
1. Connection between printer and CRT terminal
The system supports PRN series printers or CRT-2 terminals through the EIA-232 interface (TB14/TB15).
The equipment must be installed in the same room as the control panel, with cable lengths not exceeding 20 feet (for printing) or 50 feet (for CRT). When wiring, it is necessary to make a self-made DB-25 connection wire to connect the TX, RX, and REF (ground) of the control panel respectively.
Parameter configuration: The PRN printer needs to be set to Epson FX-850 emulation, with a baud rate of 9600 (or 2400), 7 data bits, and even parity. The CRT-2 needs to enter the settings menu through the function keys and be configured in 8/1/N format.
2. Security tamper proof switch (STS-1)
If the system needs to be used for mixed fire/security applications, STS-1 door magnetic tamper proof switch can be installed.
Install the switch on the opposite side of the cabinet hinge, install the magnet on the side of the door lock, and insert the connecting wire into the J10 (Tamper) interface of the motherboard. When the system is reset, a 30 second exit delay will be activated, during which the tamper proof switch and all security alarms will be ignored.
On site debugging and acceptance testing process
After completing hardware installation and wiring, strict system testing must be conducted to ensure compliance with NFPA 72 standards.
Pre power on inspection: Confirm that all wiring is secure, no batteries are connected, and all module jumpers and terminal resistors are configured correctly. Ensure that the power limited cables and non power limited cables inside the cabinet are physically isolated.
AC power check: Connect the AC power supply and confirm that the green "AC POWER" indicator light on the motherboard is always on. At this time, due to the unconnected battery, the system will report "system failure" and "battery missing", which is a normal phenomenon.
Battery connection: After confirming that the motherboard is powered normally, connect the battery according to the red and black cable markings. Pay attention to preventing battery short circuits, as battery acid has strong corrosiveness.
Function test: Press the "LAMP TEST" button to confirm that all LED and LCD segment codes are displayed normally. Trigger the smoke detector or manual alarm button sequentially, and verify whether the corresponding NAC sound and light alarm is started according to the programmed logic.
Backup power test: Disconnect the AC main power supply, trigger an alarm, and confirm that the system can alarm normally under battery power supply. Measure the battery terminal voltage, and if it is below 21.6 VDC, it needs to be charged or replaced.
