ABB Symphony Plus System SD Series PROFINET Interface Module PDP800
Overview of Symphony Plus System
Positioning: ABB's next-generation distributed control system (DCS) is widely used in the power and water treatment industries, with over 6500 installation cases worldwide, including over 4500 for power and water applications.
Advantages: Continuing 30 years of technological evolution, following the "no elimination evolution" strategy, compatible with previous and future generations, supporting standard based control software and hardware, meeting the automation needs of the entire factory.
Function of PDP800 PROFIBUS interface module
Central role
Connect Symphony Plus controller with PROFIBUS DP communication channel, integrate intelligent field devices (such as transmitters, actuators, smart electronic devices, etc.), and use device information for control strategies and advanced applications.
Technical Characteristics
Supports PROFIBUS DP V0, V1, V2 protocols, and connects devices through DP/PA to support PROFIBUS PA devices.
Equipped with 1 millisecond timestamp function (PROFIBUS DP V2), supporting dielectric and fiber optic transmission.
The maximum speed of PROFIBUS DP link is 12 Mbps, and the fiber transmission distance is up to 15 kilometers.
I/O and device integration
Connect the Symphony Plus controller to S800 I/O (supporting analog/digital, pulse counting, intrinsic safety applications, etc.), and achieve event timestamps with 1 millisecond accuracy through PROFIBUS DP V2.
Support connecting S+Turbine dedicated modules (such as HPC800, used for turbine protection, valve positioning, etc.).
Under fiber optic expansion, the PROFIBUS I/O module can be up to 15 kilometers away from the PDP800, and the PDP800 can be up to 3 kilometers away from the controller (via redundant HN800 fiber optic communication).
Reliability design
Supports full level redundancy of modules, power supplies, PROFIBUS DP links, and controller communication bus (HN800), with independent redundancy options to ensure high availability.
Data and Control Applications
The loop data of PROFIBUS devices can be accessed by the function code control application in the Symphony Plus controller for control strategy calculation, display, or alarm.
Engineering and Management Tools
S+Engineering: Use the Device Type Manager (DTM) technology through Field Engineering tools to configure, debug, and maintain PROFIBUS devices.
GSD file support: provides basic PROFIBUS DTM standardized configuration for regular device description files (GSD), supports automatic network computing and device specific channel configuration.
Key advantages
Cost optimization: reduce wiring and system space occupation, lower installation costs; By configuring and maintaining the network through S+Engineering, system costs can be reduced.
Compatibility: Seamless integration of ABB and third-party intelligent field devices, supporting multiple signal types and dedicated modules.
Flexibility: Long distance transmission and redundant design adapt to complex industrial environments, and timestamp function improves event recording accuracy.
