Turkey achieves Black Sea gas supply
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on April 20 that Turkey has successfully achieved natural gas supplies in the Black Sea region, which is expected to meet about 30% of Turkey's gas needs in the future.
On the same day, Erdogan attended the Black Sea gas transmission ceremony in the port of Filyos on the Black Sea coast of northwest Turkey, said that the daily supply of natural gas in the Black Sea Sakariya gas field in the first stage of exploitation can reach 10 million cubic meters, and it is expected to reach 40 million cubic meters in the future. Once produced at full capacity, the field could meet 30 percent of Turkey's gas needs, he said.

The Sakaria gas field was discovered by Turkey in 2020. Turkey's total gas reserves discovered in the Black Sea have reached 710 billion cubic meters, and daily gas supply is expected to reach its highest level in 2027-2028.
Turkey is highly dependent on imports of oil and gas resources, mainly from Russia.
