Practical maintenance and replacement of core components
In addition to troubleshooting, daily preventive maintenance and replacement of damaged parts are equally important. The following are maintenance and replacement points for several common components:
1. Door safety switch and interlocking device
The medium voltage cabinet door is equipped with a safety switch, and once the door is opened, the frequency converter will immediately trip. For options equipped with electromagnetic interlocking, the door can only be unlocked after the frequency converter reaches a safe state (power off and grounded). If you need to open the door in the event of a complete power outage, you need to use the emergency release function: remove the screw cover on the door, loosen the locking screw, and turn the release knob from the "lock" position to the "unlock" position to operate the door handle. After the operation is completed, it must be turned back to the locked position and the screws tightened to ensure that the safety interlock function is normal.
2. Fault replacement of roof IP42 fan group
The reliability of the cooling system directly determines the operating life of the frequency converter. The IP42 fan set consists of three fans (one redundant) and a control board. When the red LED outside the fan unit lights up, it indicates a component failure.
Fault location: Open the control access panel on the side and observe the LED on the control panel. The fan corresponding to the red light is the faulty fan.
Disassembly and replacement: Remove the top cover screws, unplug the power cord, remove the mounting board screws, and disconnect the power connection. Record the serial numbers of the old and new fans. Install the new fan, reverse the wiring and installation board. Start the test run, if everything is normal, the green light will light up, and finally reinstall the top cover and panel.
3. Replacement of redundant cooling fan (DCS880 H4) for excitation unit
If the system is equipped with an excitation unit, the DCS880 H4 inverter fan in its redundant cooling box may also need to be replaced.
Safety isolation: First, disconnect the miniature circuit breaker of the fan unit.
Disassembly: Remove the 6 screws from the fan cover plate and unplug the fan cable. Remove the 4 fastening screws from the external panel of the fan unit.
Extraction and replacement: Pull the fan out of the cabinet. Attention: To prevent the fan from falling and injuring people, a support object (such as a box) should be placed below. Then install the new fan in reverse order.
Preventive Maintenance and Inspection Checklist
Regular visual inspection and cleaning are essential to reduce unplanned downtime:
Environmental inspection: Check the humidity, ambient temperature, and dust accumulation inside the cabinet.
Component inspection: Check for signs of overheating (cable discoloration, busbar discoloration), corrosion (circuit board, connectors), and whether the cable insulation layer is intact.
Tightening of connections: Vibration may cause electrical connections to loosen. Regularly check all power and control cable connections to ensure that plugs and connectors are securely fastened.
Cleaning standard: Use an anti-static brush and a vacuum cleaner with a soft nozzle to clean the circuit board. For oil stains on the mother row, oil absorbing microfiber cleaning cloths such as 3M Scotch Brite can be used. It is strictly prohibited to use alcohol or solvents to avoid damaging components.
