The GE IS2I5WECAH1B controller combined with the IS2108PPBHZCAA terminal board represents a high-performance control solution from the Mark VIe series, engineered for demanding power generation and industrial automation applications. The IS2I5WECAH1B controller features a powerful 600 MHz or 1200 MHz processor (depending on configuration) with a real-time multitasking operating system. It supports frame rates of 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, or 320 milliseconds, enabling flexible loop timing for various process dynamics. The controller includes five Ethernet ports – three dedicated to the I/O network (IONet) and two for the plant control network – plus one USB and one COM port for local maintenance access. Redundancy and Availability: The IS2I5WECAH1B controller supports dual and triple redundant IONet networks, with automatic failover. The IS2108PPBHZCAA terminal board can host up to three I/O packs per module, enabling 2-out-of-3 voting for critical field signals, significantly improving mean-time-between-forced-outages (MTBFO).


IONet – Deterministic I/O Communication

The I/O network (IONet) is a dedicated 100 Mbps full-duplex Ethernet protocol that provides deterministic, high-speed data exchange between the controller and I/O packs. It supports copper (Cat 5e) and fiber optic (multi-mode/single-mode) cabling with segment lengths up to 100 meters (copper) or 2 kilometers (fiber).
