In the engineering implementation of the KR C5 slim-2 robot controller, compactcab and smallsizecab are not simply "metal cabinets", but system level carriers responsible for mechanical support, power distribution, safety interfaces, cooling air ducts, UPS batteries, front door operation interfaces, and electromagnetic compatibility. For engineers in the search solution stage, the most concerning issue is often not "what it is", but "how to install, connect, check, and replace it". This article focuses on the KR C5 compactcab for KR C5 slim-2 and KR C5 miniaturizecab for KR C5 slim-2, and explores them layer by layer from architecture, power supply, interface, safety, transportation, power on, module replacement, and troubleshooting.
Product positioning and cabinet architecture
The KR C5 compactcab supports a maximum of 6 servo axes, with an empty cabinet weight of approximately 25 kg; the KR C5 small-size cab supports a maximum of 9 servo axes, with an empty cabinet weight of approximately 35 kg. Both have a protection level of IP54, with noise levels below 71 dB (A), default color of light gray RAL 7035, and a uniform load of 1500 N on the cabinet top. The cabinet can be installed separately, side by side, or stacked up to 2 additional cabinets, and can also be equipped with casters, but cannot be stacked with casters. When stacking, the lower cabinet must be fixed on the ground, the upper cabinet must be fixed on the lower cabinet, and all plug-in connections must be kept accessible.
The interior of the cabinet is mainly equipped with KR C5 slim-2 controller, while the exterior provides power connection UPS、 Braking resistor, cabinet fan, front door interface, and optional local emergency stop. Cooling is completed by the bottom fan, and air enters from the environment, flows through the power unit, and is discharged. The cooling air duct cannot be blocked, otherwise the temperature rise will cause unexpected shutdown and shorten the service life.
The basic version is divided into EU/global and NA. The NA version has an OFF/ON position for the main switch, and the cabinet door can only be opened when the main switch is OFF. It also requires branch circuit protection to fuse, with a maximum of 15 A and Class CC/J. The NA version must use an isolation transformer when there is no grounded neutral point and the rated voltage is not within the technical data range, and can only operate in conjunction with overvoltage protection. The difference between the EU/global version and the NA version is the boundary that needs to be confirmed first when planning this series of cabinets.
Power supply and installation boundary
In terms of power supply, KR C5 compactcab and smallsizecab support AC 3 × 380 V, 3 × 400 V, 3 × 415 V, 3 × 440 V, and 3 × 480 V, requiring a grounded neutral point, three-phase four wire, and solid grounding star system. Voltage tolerance ± 10%, system impedance not exceeding 300 m Ω, ground leakage current not exceeding 150 mA, frequency 50/60 Hz ± 1 Hz, short-circuit current withstand capacity of 5 kA. Line side melting is provided by the customer, with a minimum of 3 × 16 A slow melting and a maximum of 3 × 20 A slow melting. Please refer to the nameplate for details. If residual current circuit breakers are used, each robot controller should have a trigger sensitivity of 300 mA and can only protect one cabinet and one controller. This level is used for equipment protection and not for personnel protection. It is recommended to use the universal current sensitive type.
Environmental conditions also determine the lifespan of the system. The ambient temperature during operation is -5 to+45 ℃; Storage and transportation at -20 to+40 ℃; Transportation without battery storage can reach -20 to+60 ℃. The maximum temperature change is 1 K/min, the relative humidity is 5% to 95%, and condensation is not allowed. There is no downgrading below an altitude of 2000 meters, with a 5% downgrading every 1000 meters between 2000 and 3000 meters. Overvoltage category below 2000 m is III, 2000 to 3000 m is II, and pollution level is 2. In terms of vibration, the continuous vibration during operation and transportation is 0.5 g, with a frequency of 50 to 2000 Hz; the impact operation is 2 g, the transportation is 10 g, and the half sine is 11 ms. If the mechanical stress is greater, anti vibration components must be installed.
The switching cycle life of the emergency stop switch is 20 years, less than 250000 times, approximately 34 times per day. If the number exceeds this limit, it must be replaced. This data must be reflected in the security maintenance plan and cannot be processed after a malfunction occurs.
The installation spacing must comply with the minimum lateral bending radius of 150 mm, 50 mm for parallel cabinets, and at least 200 mm for the top if there is a continuous ceiling above to ensure free discharge of waste heat. Maintenance and repair sometimes require operation from the side or rear. If the side or rear is inaccessible, the cabinet must be able to be moved to an operable position.
