GE Fanuc IC695CPU315-CD PLC CPU Module RX3i

The GE Fanuc IC695CPU315-CD is a central processing unit for the RX3i PACSystems (Programmable Automation Controller) platform. It features a high-performance 32-bit microprocessor, 256 MB of user memory (flash and RAM), and dual embedded Ethernet ports supporting SRTP, Modbus TCP, and EGD. The CPU is designed for large-scale discrete and process control applications, offering advanced motion and built-in redundancy capabilities.

Processor and Memory

CPU clock speed: 1.0 GHz (Intel Atom-based). User program memory: 256 MB (flash for non-volatile storage), 256 MB DDR3 RAM for execution. Data memory: 64 MB retentive (battery backed). The CPU supports up to 32K I/O points and 512 program blocks. Typical scan time: 0.5 ms per 1K of ladder logic. The real-time clock (RTC) is battery-backed (CR2032, 5 years life).

Embedded Communication

  • 2 x Ethernet ports (10/100/1000): Support SRTP (Service Request Transport Protocol), Modbus TCP, EGD (Ethernet Global Data), and PROFINET (with firmware option).

  • 1 x USB 2.0 host (Type A): For firmware updates, data logging to USB drive, or connecting a keyboard/mouse.

  • 1 x RS-232 port (9-pin D-sub): For serial programming or connection to third-party devices (ASCII, Modbus RTU).


I/O and Expansion

The IC695CPU315-CD mounts on the RX3i universal backplane (PCIe-based) and supports up to 31 local I/O modules. It can control up to 64 remote I/O racks via Ethernet (using IC695ETM001 modules). The CPU also supports Genius bus and PROFIBUS DP via optional modules. Up to 512 axes of motion control can be coordinated using the built-in Soft Motion engine.

Redundancy and Hot Standby

The CPU supports redundant configurations (hot standby) with synchronized data transfer over dedicated Ethernet links. Failover time is < 20 ms. The CPU also features "no-stop" firmware upgrades – the controller continues operation while firmware is updated.

Diagnostics and Security

LEDs: OK (green), RUN (green), I/O (yellow), FAULT (red), FORCE (yellow). The CPU has a 2-line LCD display (20 characters each) for IP address and error messages. Security features: user password protection (three levels), HTTPS web server, and SNMPv3. The unit logs events (1000 entries) with time stamp.

Power consumption: 600 mA from 5V backplane, 100 mA from 24V backplane (for serial port). Dimensions: 140 mm height x 35 mm width x 140 mm depth. Weight: 0.5 kg.
