4. Flexibility in responding to complex technological requirements

Modern manufacturing is full of uncertainty - today it may be a light load high-speed sorting task, tomorrow it may become a heavy load low-speed handling condition. The Accurate Scalability of this series of solutions perfectly adapts to this variability.

The manual emphasizes its applicability to cyclic operation with alternating load. Whether it is the wrist of a robotic arm that frequently starts and stops, or the feed axis of a machine tool that requires constant torque output, the A Series+BMD can achieve precise tuning at the control level through the deep matching of Bonfiglioli's internal inverter and motor parameters.

Key technical parameters and selection logic

To help engineers make more accurate selections, we need to have a deep understanding of the size and performance mapping relationship provided on pages 7 and 8 of the manual.

1. Torque and size spectrum

This platform covers an output torque range of 100 Nm to 850 Nm (varying at different speed ratios), covering six major size specifications: A05, A10, A20, A30, A35, and A41.

Selection logic: When conducting selection calculations, it is necessary to verify that the actual output torque required for the application (Required Torque M2) cannot exceed the rated output torque of the gearbox at the corresponding speed ratio (Rated Torque Mn2), and a certain safety factor (usually 1.5-2 times) should be reserved to cope with start-up shocks. The smaller the size, the lower the inertia, and the better the dynamic performance; The larger the size, the stronger the load-bearing capacity. A05 emphasizes high speed and high precision, while A41 leans more towards high torque output.

2. Input interface configuration (servo motor end)

Page 8 of the manual provides a detailed list of input flange interface standards for different sizes (S11, S14, S19, S24, S28, etc.). These codes define the motor shaft extension length, shaft diameter, and installation bolt specifications (such as M4, M5, M6, M8, etc.).

Special attention: When selecting, be sure to confirm that the X dimension (shaft extension length) on the motor shaft matches the meshing depth of the input gear of the reducer. If the P size value (Coupling available) is used to represent the optional coupling, its length will replace the standard input shaft length. If marked as "Coupling unavailable", it means that the customer needs to design the direct connection between the motor shaft and the reducer gear themselves. At this time, the transmission design must strictly refer to the "Mt" (motor shaft gear center distance) and spline parameters in the manual.

3. Output interface and installation orientation

This series supports multiple output flange specifications (such as F40B1, F50C1, F60A2, F80A1, F95A, F110A, F130A, F180A, etc.). These not only define the stopping diameter and hole spacing (PCD) of the output flange, but also determine the installation method of the reducer on the equipment (such as through flange surface installation).

Engineering Tip: The "J2 dimensions are related to the A 05 gear unit only" mentioned in the manual (page 9) means that A05, as the minimum size, has special considerations for its output shaft design. When selecting, attention should be paid to its output shaft's load-bearing capacity and accessory installation limitations.


Industry oriented application scenario analysis

According to the application areas listed on page 6 of the manual, the A Series+BMD solution mainly serves automation scenarios that have dual requirements for accuracy and dynamic response:

Machine tools and electronic assembly:

Pain points of demand: High frequency start stop, fast positioning, and no crawling during low-speed processing are required.

Scheme compatibility: The low inertia servo motor ensures fast start stop, while the low backlash characteristic of the bevel gear ensures absolute accuracy of CNC or surface mount machine during commutation, without crawling phenomenon.

Packaging, Labeling, and Food and Beverage:

Pain points of demand: High hygiene standards (IP protection) are required, and the cutting blades and film rollers in the packaging process require extremely high synchronization accuracy.

Solution compatibility: The high protection level of IP67 enables it to easily withstand washing environments. The closed-loop control of servo motors ensures strict electronic cam synchronization between the spindle and the slave shaft.

Robots, Warehouse Automation, and Glass/Ceramic Processing:

Pain point of demand: The rotating axis of articulated robots or heavy-duty stackers has significant offset and alternating load impact.

Scheme compatibility: The high impact resistance of spiral bevel gears perfectly responds to alternating loads. The high torque density ratio (torque/weight ratio) results in a smaller inertia of the end effector and more agile robot movements.
