The Siemens 6SL3040-1NC00-0AA0, also known as the NX10.3, is a Numerical Extension module designed to expand the axis-handling capabilities of Sinumerik 840D sl and Sinumerik One controllers. When the base NCU reaches its limit for controlling drive objects, the NX10.3 is added to provide additional computational power for more axes.
The NX10.3 can control up to 3 additional servo axes, depending on the performance level required. It communicates with the central NCU via the high-speed DRIVE-CLiQ interface, ensuring perfectly synchronized movement between all axes in the system. This is crucial for complex machining tasks where multiple tool heads or auxiliary movements are required simultaneously.

Interface: Equipped with multiple DRIVE-CLiQ ports for easy daisy-chaining of Sinamics S120 drives.
Compact Form Factor: Designed to mount directly next to the NCU or within the Sinamics drive lineup to save cabinet space.
Integrated Diagnostics: Fully integrated into the Sinumerik diagnostic system, allowing for easy monitoring through the HMI.
Integrating the 6SL3040-1NC00-0AA0 involves connecting it to the system bus and configuring the additional axes in the Sinumerik software environment. The module handles the low-level current and speed control loops, offloading these intensive tasks from the main NCU processor.
The NX10.3 is commonly found in multi-spindle lathes, large-scale gantry mills, and robotic machining cells. By providing scalable axis control, it allows manufacturers to build highly complex machines without compromising on speed or precision.
