Product Overview

The Omron CJ1W-NC433 is a high-performance position control unit (PCU) designed for the CJ series programmable logic controllers. It provides control for up to four axes of servo or stepper motors independently or with coordinated motion. The module supports advanced functions including linear interpolation between any two axes, circular interpolation, and electronic camming. The CJ1W-NC433 is capable of pulse train outputs up to 500 kHz (line driver) or 200 kHz (open collector), enabling high-speed positioning for demanding applications such as CNC routers, pick-and-place machines, and high-speed packaging equipment. The unit is part of Omron's CJ series motion control family, offering seamless integration with CJ CPUs.


Key Features of CJ1W-NC433

The module provides 4 independent axes with selectable output types: open collector (24 V DC, 200 kHz) or line driver (5 V DC, 500 kHz). It includes dedicated inputs per axis for home, positive limit, negative limit, and external interrupt. The CJ1W-NC433 supports up to 500 positioning sequences per axis (or shared among axes). Motion profiles include trapezoidal and S-curve acceleration/deceleration. The unit can perform linear interpolation between 2 to 4 axes, circular interpolation on 2 axes, and electronic gear or cam operation. It also supports direct positioning (immediate command from CPU) and speed control modes.

The module communicates with the CJ CPU via the backplane bus and is programmed using CX-One software with motion function blocks. It includes a built-in memory for storing positioning data, reducing the load on the main CPU. LED indicators provide visual status for power, run, error, and each axis. The unit requires an external 24 V DC power supply for I/O circuits. It occupies one slot in a CJ series rack and has a compact width of 35 mm. Operating temperature is 0 to 55°C. Functional Description

The CJ1W-NC433 generates high-speed pulse trains to control up to 4 servo/stepper drives independently. It can execute coordinated multi-axis moves: for example, two axes performing linear interpolation to cut a straight line, or three axes for a diagonal move. Electronic camming allows one axis to follow a master axis according to a user-defined cam profile. The unit handles homing sequences and limit switch monitoring. The CPU can command the PCU to start a pre-stored motion sequence or directly specify target positions. Encoder feedback is typically handled by the servo drive.
