Eaton ELC-GP02001 Graphic Operator Interface

The ELC-GP02001 (also referred to as ELCGP02001) is a compact graphic human-machine interface (HMI) from Eaton's ELC series. It is designed for simple monitoring and control applications, providing a local display and keypad for operator interaction with an ELC PLC or other controllers.

Display and Keypad

The unit features a 2-inch monochrome LCD with backlight, capable of displaying text and simple graphics. Resolution is typically 128x64 pixels, allowing clear presentation of machine status, alarms, and parameters. Below the display are 8 programmable function keys with tactile feedback, which can be configured to initiate PLC actions, change screens, or enter data. LEDs may indicate key status.

Communication

The ELC-GP02001 communicates with the host controller via an RS-232 serial interface (usually 9-pin D-sub or terminal block). It supports the ELC proprietary protocol and can also be configured for Modbus RTU (master/slave) to connect with various devices. Communication parameters (baud rate, parity) are adjustable via software.

Programming and Configuration

Configuration is performed using Eaton's HMI editing software (e.g., ELCSoft or compatible). Users can design screens, assign function keys, and link tags to PLC registers. The software supports text in multiple languages and allows simulation before downloading to the HMI. The unit stores the project in internal flash memory.

Power Supply

The HMI operates on 24VDC nominal (range 20-28V). Power consumption is less than 100mA. The power input is protected against reverse polarity and overvoltage. An internal fuse provides short-circuit protection.

Mounting and Environment

The ELC-GP02001 is designed for panel mounting with an IP65 front panel rating (when properly installed), making it suitable for industrial environments with dust and moisture. The rear housing is IP20. Operating temperature: 0°C to +50°C. Dimensions: approximately 96mm x 48mm (standard 1/8 DIN cutout). Depth behind panel is about 50mm.

Applications

Typical applications include small machines, packaging equipment, conveyors, and process control where a simple, rugged operator interface is needed. It can display production counts, fault messages, and allow setpoint adjustments.
