The LTi SO82.004 must be installed in a stationary control cabinet with adequate ventilation. Maintain minimum distances of 40 mm above and below for air circulation. Use shielded motor and encoder cables with double copper braiding. The PE conductor must be sized according to EN 61800-5-1 (min. 10 mm² copper if mains cable<10 mm²). Connect the 24V control supply first (terminals X9/X10) before applying AC mains power to X11.
For EMC compliance, keep motor cables as short as possible (≤10 m for full rated current) and route signal cables separately from power cables. The integrated mains filter (BG1-BG5) ensures compliance with EN 61800-3 environment C2 (residential) and C3 (industrial) when properly installed.
Commission the SO82.004 using the DriveManager 5 software via USB or Ethernet. After connecting the 24V control supply, the 7-segment display shows "00" then "51". Load the appropriate motor dataset for LTi LSH/LST servo motors. Enable the power stage by applying +24V to ENPO (X4/10) and ISDSH (X4/22). The drive then follows the speed setpoint from analog input or fieldbus. The integrated control unit also allows basic parameter setting, IP address configuration, and MMC card data transfer without a PC.
The SO82.004 features comprehensive protection including overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemperature (heat sink monitoring), and short-circuit detection. The 7-segment display shows device status (e.g., "5" ready, "4" motor energized) and error codes ("Er" followed by number). Advanced diagnostics are available via DriveManager 5, including an error history and real-time monitoring of currents, voltages, and temperatures.
Typical applications for the LTi SO82.004 include small packaging machines, labelling systems, conveyor drives, positioning axes, and laboratory automation. Its single-phase input makes it especially suitable for locations where three-phase power is unavailable or for retrofitting older machinery.
The order designation SO8x.xxx.0xxx.xxxx.xx identifies the variant. Standard delivery includes the drive unit, terminal accessory pack, product DVD, and (for liquid-cooled versions) grommets. For the SO82.004 air-cooled version, no external cooling circuit is required.
The LTi SO82.004 complies with low voltage directive 2006/95/EC, EMC directive 2004/108/EC, and harmonized standard EN 61800-5-1. It is designed for pollution severity 2 and overvoltage category III. UL approval is pending for BG1 devices (subject to local conditions).
The LTi SO82.004 ServoOne drive controller offers a reliable, compact, and feature-rich solution for single-phase servo applications. With its robust design, flexible interfaces, and safety features like STO, it meets the demands of modern industrial automation. Backed by LTi DRiVES’ engineering support and DriveManager 5 software, commissioning and maintenance are straightforward and efficient.
