Mitsubishi GT2708 Series Operation Panel

The Mitsubishi GT2708 series is a family of graphic operation panels (HMI) from the GOT2000 lineup, offering an 8.4-inch TFT LCD display with analog touch or function key options. The series includes four primary models: GT2708-VTBA (VGA, analog touch), GT2708-VTBD (VGA, analog touch with DC power), GT2708-STBA (SVGA, analog touch), and GT2708-STBD (SVGA, analog touch with DC). These panels are engineered for high visibility and reliable operation in industrial environments, providing direct communication with Mitsubishi Electric PLCs and other automation devices.

Display and Performance

All GT2708 models feature an 8.4-inch color TFT LCD with 65536 colors. The VTBA/VTBD variants offer 640x480 (VGA) resolution, while STBA/STBD provide 800x600 (SVGA) resolution. Brightness is rated at 350 cd/m² with LED backlight (typical lifetime 50,000 hours). Contrast ratio: 500:1. Viewing angles: 80° left/right, 60° up/down. The analog resistive touch panel is durable with over 1 million touches at a single point. The STBA/STBD models also include a built-in USB host port and Ethernet interface as standard.

Common features: 16 MB flash memory for project storage, real-time clock, buzzer, and IP65 front panel protection (water and dust resistant). Backlight can be dimmed or set to sleep mode to extend LED life.


Communication and Connectivity

The panels support simultaneous communication with multiple devices via built-in ports: one RS232 (programming/PLC), one RS422/485, and one Ethernet (10/100Base-T). Protocols include MELSEC (MC) protocol, Modbus RTU/TCP, OMRON Host Link, Siemens S7 (via Ethernet), and many others. The USB port (type-A on ST versions) connects to USB memory for data logging, screen capture, or firmware updates. The USB mini-B port (common across all) is used for programming with GT Designer3.

Programming Environment

Engineers develop screens using Mitsubishi GT Designer3 (GOT2000 series). The software includes libraries of pre-drawn objects, alarms, trends, recipes, and script functions (basic and macro). Graphics can be imported as BMP, JPG, or PNG. The GT2708 supports multiple language switching (32 languages max) and remote monitoring via web server (Ethernet models only).

Applications

Typical installations include machine tool HMIs, packaging line controls, conveyors, HVAC supervision, and batch processing. The compact 8.4-inch size fits standard cutouts for retrofitting older CRT-based panels. The rugged touch surface makes it suitable for gloved operation in food, chemical, and automotive plants.

Operating temperature: 0 to 55°C (sideways mounting up to 45°C). Storage: -20 to 60°C. Humidity: 10-90% RH non-condensing. AC models accept 100-240V AC 50/60Hz (50VA max). DC models accept 24V DC (10% ripple) with 35W max consumption. Vibration resistance: 2g (10-25 Hz). The front panel is NEMA 4X/IP65 when properly gasketed.
