The Mitsubishi GT2708 series is a family of human-machine interface touch panels from the GOT2000 line. These 8.4-inch displays are available in TFT color (VTBA/VTBD) and STN monochrome (STBA/STBD) variants, providing options for different application requirements. The panels offer high visibility, reliable touch operation, and multiple communication interfaces for connecting to Mitsubishi PLCs and other automation devices. The VTBA and STBA models include a serial port (RS-232/422/485), while the VTBD and STBD models add an Ethernet port. All models are designed for industrial environments with robust front panels and wide temperature operation.
The TFT models (GT2708-VTBA, GT2708-VTBD) offer 65,536 colors with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels (VGA), while the STN models (GT2708-STBA, GT2708-STBD) provide monochrome (blue mode) with 640 x 480 pixels as well. All panels have an analog resistive touch screen, operable with gloves. They include a backlight with approximately 50,000 hours lifetime. Communication ports: RS-232, RS-422/485 (for serial variants), Ethernet (for BD variants), and USB (Type A and Mini-B). An SD card slot is available for data logging and screen transfer. Configuration software is GT Works3.
The panels support multiple protocols including MELSEC (all series), Modbus RTU/TCP, and general-purpose serial communication. They feature a real-time clock with battery backup. The front panel rating is IP67 (when properly installed). Power supply is 24 V DC (20.4-28.8 V), consumption approx. 12 W. Operating temperature: 0 to 50°C. The unit dimensions are 241 mm x 192 mm x 50 mm, with a cutout of 227 mm x 177 mm. Weight: approx. 1.3 kg. Certifications include CE, UL, and KC.

The GT2708 series panels connect to a PLC via serial or Ethernet and continuously exchange data. The designer creates screens in GT Works3, placing objects such as pushbuttons, numeric displays, bar graphs, and alarms. At runtime, the panel reads PLC register values and writes back when the operator touches buttons. The SD card can log production data, while the USB port allows uploading/downloading screen projects or connecting a mouse. The real-time clock enables time-stamped alarm logs.
These HMI panels are used in machine tool control, packaging line operator stations, injection molding machines, and small process monitoring systems. The monochrome versions are suitable for cost-sensitive applications or where color is not required.
