Omron GRT1-DA2V SmartSlice Analog Output Module

The Omron GRT1-DA2V is a SmartSlice I/O system analog output module with two isolated voltage output channels. Each channel provides a 0-10V DC output signal with 12-bit resolution (1/6000 accuracy). The module is part of Omron’s SmartSlice distributed I/O family, which mounts on a DIN rail and communicates via DeviceNet, EtherCAT, or PROFINET when used with a SmartSlice communication unit. The GRT1-DA2V is suitable for controlling variable frequency drives, analog actuators, and valves that accept voltage command signals. Its compact design (one slice width, 24 mm) saves panel space, and the removable terminal block simplifies wiring.

Integration into SmartSlice System

The GRT1-DA2V mounts on the SmartSlice DIN rail and connects to the internal bus via a communication unit (e.g., GRT1-END for DeviceNet, GRT1-ECT for EtherCAT). The communication unit handles network protocols, and the analog module’s output data is mapped into the PLC’s memory. The module can be placed anywhere in the slice chain, and its slot number determines the I/O address. Configuration is done using the CX-Integrator software (for DeviceNet) or the master’s configuration tool.

The GRT1-DA2V is used to provide voltage reference signals to devices such as variable speed drives (VFDs), electro-pneumatic converters, chart recorders, and valve positioners. Typical industries include packaging, material handling, semiconductor manufacturing, and laboratory automation. The 0-10V output is suitable for many industrial actuators and controllers.

Installation and Wiring

Mount the module on the SmartSlice DIN rail by snapping it onto the rail and sliding it against the adjacent module. Connect the 24V DC power via the power feed module (GRT1-PD2). Wiring: terminal 1 for channel 1 output (VO+), terminal 2 for channel 1 ground (GND1); terminal 3 for channel 2 output (VO+), terminal 4 for channel 2 ground (GND2). Use shielded twisted-pair cables for analog signals; ground the shield at the module end. The terminal block is removable for pre-wiring. Ensure that the load connected does not exceed 5 mA.

Configuration and Calibration

The module does not require external calibration; its accuracy is factory-set. The output range (0-10V) is fixed; scaling can be performed in the PLC program. For example, a PLC analog output register (e.g., 0-4095) can be mapped to 0-10V. The module also supports wire break detection: if the output load exceeds the specified range, a diagnostic bit is set. Configuration of I/O addresses and communication parameters is done in the master PLC.


Maintenance and Diagnostics

LED indicators: green (PWR) for power, green (LINK) for network communication, and yellow (ERR) for module fault. If the ERR LED is on, check for short-circuit or overcurrent on the output channel. The module provides diagnostic data accessible via the communication unit, including output overcurrent status. No routine calibration is needed.

The GRT1-DA2V is CE and UL certified, RoHS compliant. Operating temperature: -10°C to +55°C. Humidity: 25-85% non-condensing. Vibration: 2g (10-55 Hz). The module is IP20 and must be installed in a control cabinet.
