In the field of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, precise, efficient, and fully compliant measuring instruments are indispensable tools in the hands of engineers. R&S launched by Rohde&Schwarz ® The EPL1000 EMI test receiver is an innovative product designed specifically for conducting emission measurements in the frequency range of 5 kHz to 30 MHz. It not only fully meets the requirements of CISPR 16-1-1, but also redefines the workflow of EMI pre compatibility testing and certification testing through revolutionary time-domain scanning technology, rich automation functions, and portable design.
Standard compliance and precise measurement: core foundation
R&S ® EPL1000 strictly follows the CISPR 16-1-1 standard and supports decimal 6 dB EMI bandwidth (200 Hz, 9 kHz, 120 kHz, 1 MHz, etc.) defined in MIL-STD-461 and DO-160 standards. Its core measurement capabilities include:
Multiple EMI detectors: Provide detectors with peak, quasi peak, CISPR average, RMS average, and other standard requirements to ensure consistency with certified laboratory results.
Built in Pre selection Filter: A fixed pre selection filter for CISPR A band (9 kHz-150 kHz) and B band (150 kHz-30 MHz), effectively suppressing image frequency, significantly improving dynamic range, and accurately identifying short pulses and small signals even in the presence of strong signals.
Pulse protection input: The input attenuator can reach 55 dB (1 dB step), and is integrated with a 20 dB preamplifier, combined with automatic adjustment function (Autosizing), to avoid signal link overload and maximize the use of dynamic range.
Conversion factor and limit line: Conversion factors including cable loss and LISN characteristics can be imported or customized. Built in over 170 common EMI standard limit wires (CISPR/EN/FCC/MIL-STD-461/DO-160), the measurement results are automatically compared with the limit values and displayed as PASS/FAIL.
Time domain scanning: Disruptive measurement speed
Traditional step scanning requires point by point measurement, which is time-consuming. R&S ® The EPL1000 uses Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) technology for Time Domain Scan (TDS), which can capture the entire CISPR A or B frequency band in one measurement cycle. For example, measuring CISPR B-band (150 kHz-30 MHz) only takes about 1 second (using peak detectors) or 3 seconds (using quasi peak/average detectors).
Gap free monitoring: The measurement time of up to 100 seconds can capture any occasional or intermittent interference signal, and all detected emissions belong to the same time segment, making it easy to analyze the correlation of interference.
Parallel multi detector: Up to three traces can be activated simultaneously, each of which can use different detectors (such as peak, quasi peak, and average). All required detection results can be obtained in one scan, without the need for step-by-step preview and final testing.
Automation function: Simplify the testing process
EPL1000 automates complex test sequences, significantly improving efficiency:
Automatic LISN line switching: via R&S ® The EZ-21 control cable is connected to a Rohde&Schwarz LISN (such as ENV216). Users only need to check the line (L, N, PE) to be measured on the screen, and the receiver automatically controls the LISN to switch and complete the complete frequency band measurement of all lines. For example, measuring the CISPR A/B frequency bands (quasi peak and average values) of two lines for LED lamps according to EN 55015 standard takes only about 13 seconds in total.
Scanning table: Multiple frequency bands can be defined, and each band can independently set parameters such as RBW, detector, measurement time, etc. The receiver automatically measures sequentially.
Report Generator: Built in report generation function, customizable templates and content, one click save as PDF or Word file, convenient for recording and exchanging test results.

Comprehensive EMI analysis capability
In addition to standard measurements, EPL1000 also provides powerful signal analysis tools:
Spectrum diagram function: Display the changes in level with frequency and time in 2D or 3D form, especially suitable for analyzing the evolution of signals or occasional components over time (such as emission changes during LED brightness adjustment).
IF Analysis (R&S) ® EPL1-K56): Combining bar chart display and spectrogram, accurately observe the modulation behavior near the specified frequency.
Zero span: Display the waveform of the level variation over time at the selected frequency, use markers to measure the period of periodic interference, and optimize the measurement time setting.
AM/FM audio demodulation: By monitoring the modulation characteristics of interference signals through built-in speakers or headphones, it helps identify environmental interference sources (such as broadcast signals in open field testing).
Spectrum analyzer mode: Provides the same universal spectrum analysis function as modern spectrometers, with one machine for multiple uses.
Flexible system integration and remote control
EPL1000 can be easily integrated into automated EMC testing systems:
Supports SCPI command set, which can be accessed through Ethernet or optional GPIB interface (R&S) ® FPL1-B10) for remote control and data reading.
Compatible with R&S ® ELEKTRA EMC testing software (basic version is R&S) ® ELEMI-E), Implement a complete EMC testing process from definition, execution, evaluation, and archiving.
Built in web server, remote desktop operation can be achieved by entering the IP address through the browser, and multiple users can access the same interface simultaneously.
Supports Microsoft Remote Desktop, providing a user experience similar to direct local control.
Mobility and Outdoor Use Design
The design of EPL1000 fully considers on-site testing requirements:
Flexible power supply: supports 100 V-240 V AC power supply; Optional DC input (R&S) ® EPL1-B30) supports 12 V-24 V vehicle power supply; Optional internal rechargeable lithium battery (R&S) ® EPL1-B31) provides approximately 2 hours of battery life and the battery is replaceable (R&S) ® FPL1-Z4), Satisfy long-term field testing.
Portable accessories: Optional soft carry bag (R&S) ® EPL1-Z2)、 Hard protective front cover (R&S ® EPL1-Z1)、 Shoulder strap (R&S) ® EPL1-Z3) and anti glare screen film (R&S) ® FPL1-Z5), Easy to use under direct sunlight.
