Siemens S30810-Q1113-X4-6/02 EWSD Module Board
The Siemens S30810-Q1113-X4-6/02 (including variant -X-20/02) is a printed circuit board module designed for the Siemens EWSD (Electronic Switching System Digital) telecommunications exchange. This board serves as a control or line interface unit within the central office switching system. It is used in public switched telephone networks (PSTN) and private branch exchanges (PBX) for handling voice channels and signaling.
Functional Overview
The board is based on a Siemens C165 microcontroller (16-bit) with integrated CAN and serial interfaces. It has 512 KB of flash memory (AM29F040) and 128 KB SRAM. A FPGA (Altera EPF6016) manages time-slot interchange (TSI) and PCM bus interfacing. The board supports up to 16 analog subscriber lines or 8 ISDN Basic Rate Interfaces (depending on configuration). It features a 2Mbps backplane bus (IOM-2) for communication with the exchange matrix.
Connectors and Interfaces
2 x 64-pin backplane connectors (DIN 41612 type F) for power, control, and PCM highways.
1 x 50-pin Amphenol (Telco) for subscriber line connection (RJ21X).
1 x 9-pin D-sub for maintenance terminal (RS-232).
1 x 4-pin header for external alarm relay.
LED indicators: RUN (green), ACT (yellow), FAIL (red), and 4 channel status LEDs (green).
Power and Environment
The board draws power from the backplane: -48V DC (primary telecom supply) and +5V DC. Onboard DC-DC converters generate ±12V and 3.3V. Typical power: 15 W. Operating temperature: -5°C to +45°C (central office environment). Humidity: 10% to 85% non-condensing. The board is coated with anti-humidity varnish. Dimensions: 270 mm x 150 mm (Eurocard format).
Firmware and Configuration
The board’s firmware (stored in flash) manages call processing, digit collection, and line testing. Configuration parameters are stored in an EEPROM (Microchip 24LC256). A set of DIP switches (8-position) selects the board address (1–64) on the EWSD backplane. The board supports remote firmware update via the maintenance port.
Diagnostics and Maintenance
Built-in self-test (BIST) runs at startup, checking memory, clocks, and line interfaces. Faults are reported via the red LED and a 2-character alphanumeric display (onboard). The board can be hot-swapped in most EWSD shelves (check system version). Manual diagnostics via Siemens SWORD software over the RS-232 port.
Compatibility
This module is compatible with EWSD digital switching systems (DIU, DLU, or LTU shelves). It can replace older S30810-Q1113-X4-5 variants. The board is designated as “S30810Q1113X4602” for short. Used in central offices worldwide from the 1990s to 2000s.
Ordering and Documentation
