The Schneider BMXCPS2010 is a primary power supply module belonging to the Modicon X80 automation platform. It is designed to supply the logic power for the rack backplane and also provides auxiliary 24V DC power for sensors and actuators connected to I/O modules. The module accepts a wide input voltage range and delivers a total output power of 20W, making it suitable for small to medium distributed I/O configurations.
Model: BMXCPS2010
Input Voltage: 24V DC nominal (range 19.2 – 30V DC)
Input Current: 1.2 A max
Output Power (total): 20 W
Backplane Output: 5V DC / 2.5 A for logic bus
Sensor Output: 24V DC / 0.6 A for external devices
Isolation: 1500 Vrms between input, output, and ground
Efficiency: > 85% at nominal load
Protection: Overvoltage, overcurrent, short-circuit, overtemperature
The BMXCPS2010 mounts directly onto the X80 backplane (BMXXBP series) and occupies one slot. It features a detachable screw terminal block for input wiring, with terminals labeled +24V, 0V, and protective earth. The front panel includes a green LED for power OK, a red LED for fault indication, and a test button to manually force output shutdown for maintenance. The module communicates status to the CPU via the backplane bus, allowing remote monitoring of input voltage and internal temperature through the configuration software (EcoStruxure Control Expert or SoMachine).
The BMXCPS2010 provides three independent outputs: the backplane 5V supply powers all X80 I/O modules (discrete, analog, and specialty), the backplane 24V supply (optional) powers relay coil outputs, and the external 24V sensor supply powers field devices. The external sensor supply is electronically protected against overload and short circuits; after fault removal, it automatically recovers within 2 seconds. The module also has a dedicated "power fail" signal that alerts the CPU when input voltage drops below 19V, giving the controller time to perform an orderly shutdown of processes.
Dimensions: 105mm height x 32mm width x 130mm depth. Weight: 0.2 kg. Operating temperature: -10°C to +60°C horizontally mounted, -10°C to +50°C vertically. Storage: -40°C to +85°C. Humidity: 5-95% non-condensing. The module is rated IP20 and should be installed in an enclosure with at least IP54 protection. Vibration resistance: 3.5 mm at 5–8.4 Hz, 1 g at 8.4–150 Hz; shock resistance: 15 g for 11ms.
The BMXCPS2010 is certified to UL 61010-1, CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1, and EN 61131-2. It carries CE, UKCA, RCM, and EAC marks. The module meets marine classification requirements (DNV, ABS, BV) for use on ships. It also complies with IEC 61800-3 for adjustable speed drive systems and IEC 61000-6-2/4 for EMC.

This power supply is used in Modicon M340, M580 (partially), and standalone X80 I/O racks. It powers discrete input modules, analog input modules, and small relay output modules. In a typical configuration, one BMXCPS2010 can support up to 8 digital input modules and 6 digital output modules without external sensor supply loading. For larger systems, the BMXCPS3500 (35W) or BMXCPS4000 (40W) is recommended.
Connect the 24V DC input from a SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) source, such as a certified industrial power supply. Use a 2A circuit breaker or 1A slow-blow fuse for input protection. The external 24V sensor output is not intended to power the BMXCPS2010 itself nor any other rack supply; it is only for field devices connected to I/O modules. For redundant power supply applications, two BMXCPS2010 modules can be used in a 1+1 configuration with external diode redundancy modules (e.g., BMXRMS? not available, use external Schottky diodes).
The Schneider BMXCPS2010 provides a compact, reliable power solution for Modicon X80 platforms, combining backplane logic supply and sensor power in one module, thereby simplifying cabinet wiring and reducing component count.
