The Schneider TSXP572634M is a Unity processor module for the Modicon Premium automation platform. This processor provides high‑performance logic execution, integrated Ethernet TCP/IP, and transparent ready functionality. It features 160KB of internal RAM data memory, supports up to 16 expansion racks, and can handle up to 2,048 digital I/O, 256 analog I/O, and 64 expert channels. Functional Description

The TSXP572634M executes the user application stored in RAM, with program retention supported by a lithium battery. It supports both cyclic and periodic task execution. The integrated Ethernet port enables programming, HMI communication, and data exchange with other Ethernet devices using Modbus TCP. The Fipio (Factory Instrumentation Protocol) interface connects to distributed I/O via Fipio bus, allowing the processor to control remote I/O racks. The RS‑485 port is configurable for Modbus RTU or character mode communication.

Memory and Expansion

The 160KB internal RAM is used for data variables, system parameters, and runtime storage. User program memory can be expanded using PCMCIA memory cards (Type I) inserted into the processor’s front slot. Available card types include SRAM (battery‑backed) and flash (non‑volatile). These cards can also store user‑defined data logs and recipes. The processor does not have an integrated real‑time clock; an optional PCMCIA clock card is available if time‑stamping is required.

I/O and Rack Management

The TSXP572634M can manage up to 16 expansion racks connected via Fipio bus. Each rack can hold up to 4, 6, 8, or 12 I/O modules depending on the rack type. The processor automatically identifies module types and assigns I/O addresses. It supports hot‑swapping of certain I/O modules (depending on rack and module). The maximum distance between processor and remote racks is up to 1,000 meters using fiber optic Fipio cable.

Programming with Unity Pro

Programming is performed using Schneider Electric Unity Pro software (now EcoStruxure Control Expert). The software supports all five IEC 61131‑3 languages and includes a library of function blocks for arithmetic, timers, counters, and PID control. The TSXP572634M supports online program modification, allowing changes to be made while the PLC is running. Debugging tools include real‑time variable monitoring, cross‑reference, and a logic analyzer.


Diagnostics and Status

The processor includes an LED display on the front panel showing: RUN, ERR, I/O, and Ethernet status. Detailed diagnostic information is available via the programming software. The processor logs system events, and a watchdog timer resets the CPU in case of program malfunction. An internal battery (TSXPLB01) retains program and data memory for approximately 6 months without power.
