The Vibro-meter VM600 XMV16 is a high-density measurement card designed for the VM600 machinery protection and condition monitoring system. This module provides 16 channels of simultaneous vibration and process measurement, enabling comprehensive monitoring of rotating machinery with minimal rack space consumption.
The XMV16 accepts a wide variety of sensor inputs commonly used in machinery monitoring. Each of the 16 channels is independently configurable for accelerometers, velocity sensors, proximity probes, and process voltage or current signals. The card provides integral signal conditioning including constant current excitation for ICP accelerometers, demodulation for displacement measurements, and programmable filters for band-specific analysis. Input ranges are software-selectable to accommodate different sensor sensitivities and measurement requirements.
Each channel performs continuous acquisition with simultaneous calculation of multiple measurement parameters. The card computes overall vibration amplitude in velocity or acceleration units, displacement values from proximity probes, and process values from temperature or pressure sensors. For vibration channels, spectral analysis capabilities provide up to 3200 lines of resolution, supporting detailed frequency analysis for machinery diagnostics. All measurements are time-stamped and made available to the system controller for alarm processing and data archiving.
Input Channels: 16 independently configurable
Sensor Types: ICP accelerometers, velocity sensors, proximity probes, voltage (0-10V), current (4-20 mA)
Excitation: Constant current (4 mA) for ICP sensors, proximity probe power
Dynamic Range: 24-bit ADC per channel
Sample Rate: Up to 100 kHz per channel
Frequency Range: 0.2 Hz to 40 kHz (configurable)
Spectral Lines: 100 to 3200 lines FFT
Alarm Levels: Programmable alert and danger setpoints per channel

The XMV16 incorporates redundant processing paths for critical alarm functions. Alarm logic is executed independently for each channel, with programmable voting schemes for trip decision-making. The card includes self-monitoring circuitry that continuously verifies sensor integrity, detecting open circuits, short circuits, and sensor bias failures. Upon detection of a sensor fault, the card can be configured to maintain last good value or assert a predetermined output state to prevent false trips.
The XMV16 occupies a single slot in VM600 CMC16 racks and is compatible with all VM600 system controllers. Connection to field sensors is provided through standard D-sub connectors on the rack rear panel, with internal cabling routed to the card via the backplane. The card supports hot-swap replacement, allowing field maintenance without system shutdown. Configuration parameters are stored locally on the card and automatically restored upon reinsertion.
