Description

Zebra RSR12-RG5G8G5G5A1A2B XSLATE R12 Rugged Tablet Overview

Zebra RSR12-RG5G8G5G5A1A2B XSLATE R12 Rugged Tablet is a mobile computing platform created for professionals who move between the field, the vehicle, and the office. Instead of carrying a desktop, a laptop, and a separate rugged tablet, users can rely on one flexible device that adapts to the task. The XSLATE R12 is designed as a transformational rugged tablet. It combines 2 in 1 capability with a magnetically attached Companion Keyboard that stays on standby when it is not needed and stays out of the way when the tablet is used in slate mode. Touch, pen, voice, and camera input give workers multiple ways to capture, review, and share information.
A Single Platform for Every Work Style
The XSLATE R12 is built to match different workflows without forcing users to change devices. In the field, it can be carried and used as a rugged tablet with pen or touch input. In a vehicle, it can be mounted with a secure mobile dock for dispatch, routing, mapping, and situational awareness. In the office, it can connect to a docking station and work like a desktop or notebook. This adaptability helps organizations standardize on one mobile computer platform while still supporting the way each worker prefers to complete tasks. The Companion Keyboard attaches magnetically, so it is ready when typing is useful and unobtrusive when the tablet is used handheld.
Display and Input Experience

The display is a 12.5 inch wide viewing angle panel with Full HD resolution at 1920 x 1080. It delivers 1000 nit brightness, which supports visibility in demanding outdoor and indoor lighting conditions. The View Anywhere display is designed with anti smudge and anti reflective properties. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 adds protection, and the screen includes a user replaceable anti glare screen protector with 3H hardness. Input options include capacitive 10 point touch and Wacom digital pen input. These tools support forms, signatures, annotations, mapping, inspections, and detailed documentation. Voice input and camera input add further flexibility for workers who need to record information quickly or document conditions in the field.

Performance and Operating System
The Zebra RSR12-RG5G8G5G5A1A2B belongs to a family that offers high performance processor options. Configurations can include Intel Core i7 vPro 7600U at 2.8 GHz with turbo frequency to 3.9 GHz, Intel Core i7-7500U at 2.7 GHz with turbo frequency to 3.5 GHz, Intel Core i5-6200U at 2.3 GHz with turbo frequency to 2.8 GHz, and Intel Celeron 3865U at 1.8 GHz. These processors use Intel SmartCache and multiple cores and threads to support multitasking. The 64GB M.2 SATA SSD is only for the 3865U processor configuration, while PCIe drives are for 7500U and 7600U processor configurations. Graphics include Intel HD Graphics 620 for i7-7500U and i7-7600U, Intel HD Graphics 610 for Celeron 3865U, and Intel HD Graphics 520 for i5-6200U.
Rugged Durability and Security
The XSLATE R12 is built for demanding environments. It has an integrated magnesium alloy internal frame and a rubberized enclosure. It meets MIL-STD-810G with a 4 foot drop test onto plywood over concrete. It has an IP54 rating and is Class 1 Division 2 for hazardous locations. Security features include an integrated fingerprint reader, Trusted Platform Module 2.0, and an optional CAC or SmartCard reader. These features help protect access to sensitive data in public service, field service, healthcare, and enterprise workflows. The rugged construction and security options support low total cost of ownership and high return on investment as mobility demands grow.
Connectivity and Expansion

Connectivity includes Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth 4.2. An optional internal wireless expansion slot supports wide area network options. These include Sierra Wireless EM7455 4G LTE with GNSS for GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou, with Verizon PN certification. The Sierra Wireless EM7511 provides LTE Advanced with GNSS for GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and Galileo, with AT and T FirstNet Ready and Verizon PN certification. The Sierra Wireless EM7430 provides 4G LTE with GNSS for GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou in APAC. A Navisys Technology u-blox option provides GPS with SBAS, including WAAS, EGNOS, and MSAS. A pass through antenna supports WWAN, WLAN, and GPS. Ports include a docking connector, USB 3.0, HDMI, 3.5 mm audio output, Micro SIM card slot, and Micro SDHC port. An RJ45 plus RS232 True Serial port dongle can be attached. The SlateMate module adds a barcode reader and HF RFID reader for point of service data acquisition. This level of connectivity helps workers stay in touch with teams, legacy equipment, and evolving business systems.

Battery and Power Management
Battery operation for the standard battery can reach up to 9 hours. The standard battery charges in 2.75 hours with the system off. A standard bridge battery provides a 1 minute swap time. The hot swap battery feature comes standard, which helps users replace power without interrupting work. Input voltage is 19V with an AC adapter. Expandable SSD, storage, and memory components help the platform keep pace with rising data demands. For field workers, vehicle teams, and office users, this power design supports longer shifts and fewer interruptions.
Audio Camera and Status Indicators
Audio features include Intel High Definition Audio, Realtek HD Codec, and Realtek noise cancellation. A multi directional array microphone system includes three microphones, with two front facing array microphones and one rear facing microphone. Two integrated speakers support voice and media. The camera system includes an 8 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera. Status indicators show power and battery status, camera active, and SSD activity. The tablet measures 12.93 x 8.17 x 0.75 inches, or 328.5 x 207.5 x 19 mm, and weighs 2.95 lbs or 1.34 kg. This balance of size and weight supports handheld use, vehicle mounting, and desktop docking.
Accessories and Mounting Options
A range of accessories helps maximize mobility investment. The Companion Keyboard provides typing capability. The Docking Station supports office use. The Secure Mobile Dock supports vehicle or desktop mounting. An Additional Battery extends run time. The SlateMate Data Acquisition Mobile adds barcode reader and HF RFID functions. The Work Anywhere Kit includes a case, shoulder strap, carry handle, and screen cover. An Additional Digitizer Pen supports pen based workflows. A Battery Charger supports power management. Customized mounting options help the tablet fit into vehicles, desks, and field kits. These accessories allow the same tablet to serve as a handheld tool, a notebook style device, or a desktop style workstation.
Applications and Workflows
The XSLATE R12 is suited to a wide range of tasks. These include quality assurance, inspections, inventory management, safety audits and compliance reporting, asset monitoring and control, maintenance and repair scheduling and completion, claims processing, engineering and construction project management, incident reporting, dispatch and routing with GPS, mapping and GIS asset location, investigations, situational awareness, evidence documentation, ticketing and eCitations, electronic patient care reporting, electronic health records, and emergency response planning and management. Certification on leading public service networks, including AT and T FirstNet and Verizon, helps first responders maintain reliable connections when emergencies overload public networks. The tablet supports complete situational awareness in real time and customer service advantages at all times.
Why the XSLATE R12 Stands Out
The Zebra RSR12-RG5G8G5G5A1A2B XSLATE R12 Rugged Tablet is designed to be the only computer many mobile workers need. It offers the performance features and complete computing functions required in one platform. It is highly mobile, extremely flexible, and always resilient. It can look like a notebook or desktop when accessories are added, yet it remains a rugged tablet for field and vehicle use. With a bright 12.5 inch display, pen and touch input, hot swap battery, wireless options, security features, and data acquisition accessories, it supports consistent work across office, vehicle, and field environments. For organizations that need one rugged tablet to match many work styles and workflow requirements, the XSLATE R12 provides a practical and durable answer.
