In the fields of modern heavy industry, metallurgy, papermaking, and crane transmission, high-power DC motors still occupy an irreplaceable position due to their excellent low-speed and high torque characteristics. As classic works in the field of DC drive, ABB DCS 400, DCS 500B, DCS 600 (armature drive) and DCF 500B, DCF 600 (excitation drive) series governors cover a wide current range from 25A to 5200A and have a huge number of them in industrial sites worldwide.
5.4 Encoder wiring troubleshooting
If the device has a missing or non-linear "TACHO-PULSES" signal, first check the encoder power supply. For differential encoders, it is recommended to connect Sense power and Sense GND signals to achieve cable voltage drop compensation. If a Tacho error alarm occurs during startup and the phase of the positive transfer to the set TACHO-PULSES signal is incorrect, it is usually necessary to swap the A phase and A - of the encoder (differential encoder), or swap the A and B channels (non differential encoder).
