There are multiple sets of jumpers on the board for configuring FSB frequency, COM2 working mode, clearing CMOS, etc.
1. Clear CMOS (JP6)
Normal mode: Short circuit 1-2 (default).
Clear CMOS: Short circuit for 2-3 seconds, then restore 1-2 to clear RTC data and password.
2. FSB frequency selection (JP8)
Auto (1-2): Automatically detects FSB (400 or 533MHz).
400 MHz (2-3): Mandatory 400 MHz.
NC (blank connection): Reserved.
3. COM2 function selection (JP1, JP2, JP3)
By combining three sets of jumper wires, COM2 can be set to RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485:
RS-232: JP1 1-2&4-5, JP2 1-2, JP3 1-2 (see Table 2-21 in the manual for specific combinations).
RS‑422:JP1 2‑3 & 5‑6,JP2 3‑4,JP3 3‑4。
RS‑485:JP1 2‑3 & 5‑6,JP2 5‑6,JP3 5‑6。
4. COM2 mode selection (JP4)
RS-422/RS-485 (1-2&4-5): Half duplex or full duplex.
RS-485+(2-3&5-6): RS-485 with bias.
5. Other jumpers
The board has no other configuration jumpers, Mini PCI and AC'97 do not require jumpers.
Hardware installation steps
1. CPU installation
Lift the socket locking rod, align the pin 1 triangle mark of the CPU with the socket triangle mark, gently insert it, and press down the locking rod until it is locked.
Apply thermal grease, install heat sink and fan (connected to CPU fan socket FN1).
Attention: If using the mobile version of Pentium 4-M (low-power), ensure that the heat sink is compatible.
2. Memory installation
Must be installed in pairs, with two identical capacities and densities.
If only one pair is inserted, priority should be given to using DIMM1 and DIMM2.
When installing, insert the DIMM vertically into the slot, align the foolproof notch, and press it in until the two side buckles are locked.
3. IDE device connection
Connect the hard drive or optical drive using an ATA-100 ribbon cable, paying attention to the master/slave jumper settings.
Onboard two IDE interfaces (CN14 main and CN13 secondary), each supporting two devices.
4. Front panel and power connection
Connect the PWRON and PWRBT on CN13 to the backplane or chassis power switch, and 5VSB needs to be connected to achieve ATX soft switching.
Be sure to connect the CPU auxiliary power supply (CN21, 4-pin 12V) to ensure sufficient power supply to the CPU.
5. Peripheral cable connection
Serial ports, parallel ports, and USB pins need to be connected to the chassis panel using the accompanying bracket cable.
BIOS Setting Points
BIOS is based on Award/Phoenix, press<Del>to enter when booting up. The key configuration items include:
Standard CMOS: Set date/time, automatically detect IDE hard drive.
Advanced BIOS features: Set boot sequence (hard drive, CDROM, USB, LAN), enable/disable fast self-test, set security password, console redirection (serial port remote display POST).
Advanced chipset: System/Video BIOS Cacheable and DVMT video memory allocation (maximum 64MB) can be set.
Integrated peripherals: Enable/disable IDE channel, USB controller, onboard network card (LAN Boot ROM for PXE), serial port address/IRQ (COM1/COM2 default), parallel port mode.
PnP/PCI configuration: IRQ can be manually assigned or automatically managed by ESCD.
Frequency/voltage control: Spread Spectrum can be enabled/disabled to reduce EMI.
Load Fail Safe default value: Restore basic configuration when the system fails to start.
Password setting: Supports administrator and user passwords, can be removed by clearing CMOS.

Driver installation process (Windows 2000/XP)
Suggest installing in order:
Chipset driver (Intel 845GV): Run CHIPDRV Chipset 1845GV Setup. exe from the CD and restart.
VGA driver (integrated graphics card): Run HIPDRV VGA 845GV win2k_xp131.exe (select the corresponding version according to the OS), restart.
Network card driver (Intel 82540EM): Run HIPDRV LAN 82540EM pro2kppm.exe (Win2000/XP), click "Install Now", and restart.

For Windows 98/ME/NT, please use the driver files in the corresponding directory (such as win9x131.exe, winnt4131.exe, etc.).
Principle and use of watchdog timer (WDT)
The WDT of NuPRO-842 is implemented through programmable logic devices and controlled through Winbond Super I/O registers and dedicated I/O ports (02Eh/02Fh). Main features:
Timeout period: 1-255 seconds or 1-255 minutes;
Enable, refresh, and disable software;
Generate hardware reset (hard reset) after timeout.
Operation steps (refer to example code):
Enter the Super I/O configuration space (write key sequences such as 0x87).
Select logical device 8 (WDT).
Set timeout values and enable bits in the control/status registers (CRF5, CRF7).
To start WDT, the application needs to periodically 'feed the dog' (write refresh command).
If the timeout does not refresh, the system will automatically reset.
This function is suitable for unmanned systems to prevent software deadlocks from causing downtime.
