Distinguish the boundaries of the equipment and the order of troubleshooting
Woodward easyYgen-3500XT-P1 is a plastic shell generator control unit with a display front face in the easyYgen-3000XT series, and there is also a metal shell easyYgen-3400XT-P1 in the same series. It is aimed at engine generator management, covering cogeneration, backup AMF、 Peak shaving, import and export, and distributed generation also support islanding, islanding parallel, grid parallel, and multi machine grid parallel. The first step in on-site troubleshooting is not to change parameters, but to confirm the equipment form, terminal allocation, and interface position: PT terminal, analog/CT/mains or ground current terminal, switch/MPU/power/D+terminal, relay terminal, as well as CAN # 1~# 3, RS-485, USB service port, and LAN A/B/C. Separate 'controller failure' from 'peripheral circuit failure' in order to avoid reverse testing at the error level later on.
It is recommended to investigate in the order of "power supply and grounding - measurement wiring - switch quantity and relay - circuit breaker feedback - synchronization - communication - protection setting - load distribution". Any work involving the CT secondary circuit must first short-circuit the secondary side of the current transformer before disconnecting the controller wiring; Otherwise, open circuit high voltage will endanger personal and equipment safety.
Power supply, grounding, and power on self-test
The power supply of this controller is 12/24 VDC, with a working range of 8-40 VDC, and requires a SELV power supply. The PE terminal 61 is connected to the plastic shell, while the bottom central PE connection point is used for the metal shell; The maximum allowable differential voltage between B - and PE is 100 VRMS, and if exceeded, an isolated external power source should be used. It is recommended to install a 6A slow melting fuse or a 6A/C miniature circuit breaker in front of terminal 63 for the power supply line.
After powering on, observe the button illumination, start screen, and measured values on the HOME page. If there is no display at all, first check the power polarity, terminals 63/64, PE, and fuse, and then check the display wiring or internal equipment faults. The USB service port is mainly used for ToolKit and factory services. There may be recognition abnormalities during the power on process, and it should be plugged in and unplugged after the startup is completed; Non ToolKit access is usually read-only. When using Ethernet to connect ToolKit, the PC and controller must be in the same IP segment, and the input IP should not include leading zeros.
After modifying the parameters, wait for about 20 seconds before turning off the power or restarting to ensure that internal saving is complete. Do not perform 'factory reset' during production operation, as this operation may trigger controller restart and may cause shutdown or circuit breaker action.
Measure wiring and PT/CT parameters
The voltage measurement end has merged the range and no longer distinguishes between traditional 100/120 V independent terminals. The mains power, generator, and busbar correspond to their respective PT terminals; The primary and secondary rated voltages of PT must match the parameters, otherwise the display, protection, and synchronization will deviate. The secondary rated values of generator PT, mains PT, and busbar PT should be checked item by item. If using 1Ph 2W or 1Ph 3W, it must be consistent with the wiring method, and the busbar cannot be configured as phase neutral while other systems are wired as 3Ph 3W/4W, otherwise the synchronization phase angle will be incorrect.
CT secondary must not open circuit. The transformation ratio, 1A or 5A range, and grounding current measurement method of generator CT and mains/grounding CT should be consistent with the parameters. Incorrect current direction can cause the signs of active power, reactive power, and power factor to reverse, leading to reverse power, power factor, and load distribution alarms. The CT transformation ratio should strive to ensure that the secondary current at 100% load is not less than about 60% of the rated value to avoid insufficient resolution.
Analog input supports types such as 0-2000 Ω, 0/4-20 mA, and 0-1 V. It is recommended to use two-wire sensors to improve accuracy. The resistance type input return line should be close to the controller terminal and connected to the engine ground; Analog disconnection monitoring should be configured as high/low/high/low, otherwise disconnection will only display abnormal values without an alarm.

Switching quantity, relay and emergency stop circuit
The common terminal for discrete inputs is 66, and all inputs must use the same polarity. DI01 "emergency stop" is only a signal input and cannot replace the hard wired emergency stop circuit required by EN 60204; The emergency stop function must be implemented externally to the controller. DI02 is commonly used for AUTO start requests, DI03/DI04 can be pre configured for low oil pressure and water temperature alarms, DI05 is for external confirmation, and DI06 is for releasing MCB. DI07 and DI08 are circuit breaker feedback, using N.C. logic: if the input is not powered on, it means the circuit breaker is closed, and if it is powered on, it means it is disconnected; If the wiring or logic is reversed, "GCB fail to open/lose", synchronization timeout, or load control exception may occur.
