The ABB ACS800-01-0005-3+P901 is a robust AC drive (frequency converter) from the ACS800 family, designed for controlling standard induction motors. This model provides an output power of 1.1 kW (1.5 HP) at 3-phase 380-480V input. The “P901” suffix indicates inclusion of the assistant control panel (standard panel for parameter setting and monitoring). The drive is known for its direct torque control (DTC) technology, delivering high torque accuracy and fast response.
Input: 3-phase, 380-480V AC ±10%, 50/60Hz, rated current 3.5A. Output: 3-phase, 0 to input voltage, 2.6A continuous, 1.1 kW (normal duty). Overload capacity: 10% for 60 seconds, 50% for 2 seconds. DTC control mode provides torque response < 5 ms and speed accuracy ±0.1% of motor slip. Switching frequency: programmable 1-12 kHz (default 4 kHz). Ambient temperature: -10°C to +40°C, derated above 40°C. Protection rating: IP21 (NEMA 1) for general indoor use. Dimensions: 340 mm H x 150 mm W x 190 mm D. Weight approx. 5 kg. The drive includes integrated EMC filter (Category C3), braking chopper (external resistor required), and galvanically isolated I/O.

Integrated EMC filter for CE compliance
Built-in RS485 interface (Modbus RTU, ABB drives protocol)
Analog inputs: 2 (0-10V, 0-20mA, 4-20mA)
Analog output: 1 (0-20mA)
6 digital inputs, 2 digital outputs (relay)
Protections: overcurrent, overload, short-circuit, overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemperature
Removable control terminals and cooling fan

The assistant control panel (P901) features a backlit LCD with 2 lines x 16 characters and 6 buttons for navigation. It supports real-time display of motor current, frequency, torque, and power. Parameters are organized in menus; the “Assistant” mode guides users through basic setup (motor data, start/stop control, speed reference). The panel can be detached and remotely mounted up to 3 meters using a cable (option). It also includes a copy function to transfer parameters to other drives.
Mount the drive vertically on a non-flammable surface, maintaining 50 mm clearance above and below for airflow. Connect the input power to terminals U1, V1, W1; motor leads to U2, V2, W2. The control signal wires (shielded) connect to the removable terminal block. The drive requires external input fuses (10A, class gG) and a main contactor. For compliance with EMC, use shielded motor cables with 360° grounding at both ends. The braking resistor (optional) connects to terminals R+ and R-.
The drive can be controlled via the panel, digital inputs (start/stop, direction, multi-speed), or fieldbus. The built-in RS485 port supports Modbus RTU and ABB’s native protocol. An optional adapter (e.g., PROFIBUS DP, CANopen, Ethernet/IP) can be inserted into the option slot. The analog input can accept 0-10V or 4-20mA signals for speed reference. The drive also has a frequency output that can be configured as a current signal.
The ACS800 is parameterized through the panel or PC tool (DriveWindow). Basic parameters: motor nominal voltage (9905), motor nominal current (9906), motor speed (9908), acceleration/deceleration times (2202, 2203), and torque limit (2003). The drive supports 10 configurable digital inputs and 3 relay outputs. Parameter groups cover start/stop modes, speed feedback, PID control, and fault handling. The drive can store up to 3 different user parameter sets.
The ACS800-01-0005-3+P901 is used for speed control of small fans, pumps, conveyors, and agitators in industrial plants. Its DTC capability makes it suitable for demanding applications like centrifuge control and crane hoists. The IP21 protection allows installation in control cabinets.
The drive complies with CE, UL 508C, cUL, and RoHS. It meets EN 61800-3 (EMC) and EN 61800-5-1 (safety). Operating humidity 5-95% non-condensing. Maximum altitude 1000 m without derating; up to 4000 m with derating of current and voltage.
The ABB ACS800-01-0005-3+P901 frequency converter offers reliable and precise motor control with DTC technology. Its compact size, assistant panel, and flexible connectivity make it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.
