The 100-E205ED11 incorporates a universal coil that operates on any voltage between 100 V and 250 V AC (50/60 Hz) or DC. This eliminates the need to select different coils for different control voltages, simplifying inventory management. The coil’s electronic control reduces inrush current and provides a wide operating range (0.85 to 1.1 times the rated voltage). The coil is also equipped with a built-in surge suppressor (varistor for AC, freewheeling diode for DC) to reduce electromagnetic interference.
Typical applications include switching of high-power three-phase motors in compressors, pumps, fans, crushers, and conveyor systems. The contactor is also suitable for resistive heating loads (AC-1) up to 275 A. It can be used in motor control centers, HVAC equipment, and industrial machinery requiring reliable switching of large currents. The universal coil allows direct connection to 110 V AC, 220 V AC, or 24 V DC (with appropriate coil, but this model covers 100-250V).
Mount the contactor on a 35 mm DIN rail or directly to a panel with screws (M4). For DIN rail mounting, engage the rear clip and push the contactor onto the rail. Wire the main power terminals: L1, L2, L3 (line) and T1, T2, T3 (load). Use appropriate lug terminals for 120 mm² cable. Tighten screws to the specified torque (35 Nm for main terminals). Connect the coil terminals (A1 and A2). The coil is non-polarized for AC and DC; polarity is irrelevant for DC, but ensure proper grounding. Add auxiliary contact blocks (e.g., 100-FA series) by snapping them onto the front or side. For high ambient temperatures, derate the current as per the manufacturer’s derating curve. Ensure adequate clearance for heat dissipation (at least 50 mm above and below).
The contactor must be protected by a suitable fuse or circuit breaker. Recommended short-circuit protection: gG fuses (200 A) or circuit breakers with appropriate trip curves. The contactor can be combined with an overload relay (e.g., 193-EE series) to form a motor starter. The built-in auxiliary contacts (13-14 NO and 21-22 NC) can be used for seal-in circuits, PLC monitoring, or status indication.
The 100-E205ED11 is designed for pollution degree 3 environments. It meets IEC 60947-4-1, UL 60947-4-1, CSA C22.2 No. 60947-4-1, and CE requirements. It is RoHS compliant. Operating altitude: up to 2000 m without derating; derate above 2000 m. The contactor is IP20 rated (finger-safe terminals). It can be stored at -40°C to +80°C. Humidity: 5-95% non-condensing.
The Allen-Bradley 100-E205ED11 MCS-E contactor offers high current handling in a compact IEC form factor. Its universal coil, integrated auxiliary contacts, and global approvals make it a reliable choice for motor and load switching in industrial automation systems.
