B&R X20CP1382 PLC Control Module

The B&R X20CP1382 is a compact CPU module from the X20 controller family, combining a powerful processor with integrated communication interfaces. Designed for mid-range automation tasks, this PLC control module provides real-time control, data logging, and network connectivity in a single 37.5 mm wide unit. It is ideal for machine builders and system integrators who require a scalable controller without the need for a separate bus controller.

Technical Specifications

The CPU features an Intel XScale processor running at 400 MHz. It includes 256 MB of DDR RAM and 512 MB of internal flash memory for program and data storage. The real-time clock is battery-backed. Two Ethernet ports (10/100Base-T) are available for networking, supporting open SAFETY, POWERLINK, and standard TCP/IP protocols. Additionally, the module provides a USB host port (type A) for external drives and one RS232 interface. The X2X Link master interface connects to X20 I/O modules for local I/O expansion. The module also has a slot for an additional CompactFlash card.

The X20CP1382 mounts on standard 35mm DIN rail (EN 60715) within an X20 base plate. It requires a 24V DC supply via the X20 bus (connected to the leftmost module). I/O modules are attached to the right via X2X Link; no separate bus controller is needed. The module supports hot-swapping of I/O modules (if the system is configured accordingly). Up to 64 X20 modules can be connected, with total cable length of 100 meters using standard X20 cables.
