The OMRON CJ1W-NC413 is a dedicated Position Control Unit (PCU) for the CJ1 series PLC, capable of managing up to four independent axes of motion. It generates high-speed pulse sequences to drive servo or stepper motor drivers. By offloading the motion calculation tasks from the main PLC CPU, the CJ1W-NC413 ensures that high-speed positioning is achieved without taxing the system’s overall scan time.
This module features open-collector outputs, making it compatible with a wide variety of motor drives. It supports a maximum output frequency of 500 kpps, allowing for high-speed operation and fine resolution. Users can program linear interpolation for any two axes, enabling complex multi-dimensional movements such as diagonal paths or circular arcs in synchronization with industrial processes.

Configuration of the CJ1W-NC413 is handled through the CX-Programmer or CX-Position software. The unit allows for the storage of extensive positioning data sequences internally. Features such as acceleration/deceleration curve shaping (S-curve or trapezoidal), backlash compensation, and software limits are built directly into the module's firmware to simplify machine setup and enhance safety.
Reliability is bolstered by comprehensive status monitoring. The unit tracks error codes for issues such as pulse output overflow or hardware malfunctions. Front-panel LEDs provide a quick diagnostic interface, showing axis activity and error status. This module is an essential component for automated assembly lines, pick-and-place robots, and high-speed packaging equipment.
