GRUNDIG NEA02 AES 0 PLC Input/Output Card for Deckel Dialog 112
The GRUNDIG NEA02 AES 0 is a dedicated PLC I/O module used within the Deckel (DMG) Dialog 112 CNC control system. It interfaces between the CNC processor and machine peripherals such as limit switches, coolant valves, tool changers, and spindle drives. The card provides 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs, optically isolated for noise immunity in the harsh machine shop environment.
Technical Specifications
Digital Inputs: 16, 24 VDC (sink/source, 5 mA typical)
Digital Outputs: 16, 24 VDC, 0.5 A per channel, with short-circuit protection
Isolation: Optocoupler, 2.5 kV RMS between field and logic
Bus Interface: 64-pin Eurocard connector (DIN 41612) for Dialog 112 backplane
Response Time: 1 ms for input scan, 1 ms for output update
Address Range: Configurable via DIP switches (base address from 0x00 to 0xF0)
Function and Compatibility
The NEA02 AES 0 works exclusively with Deckel Dialog 112 CNC controls (often found on Deckel Maho milling machines and CNC lathes). It is part of the Grundig GNC 112 PLC system, replacing older NEA01 cards. The card’s outputs are capable of directly driving small relays, LEDs, or contactors without intermediate power stages. Inputs support mechanical switches, proximity sensors, and pushbuttons.
Diagnostic Features
An array of 32 green LEDs on the front panel indicates the status of each input and output (ON = LED lit). A power indicator (yellow) shows 5V logic supply present. A red ERR LED blinks if the bus communication fails or configuration DIP switch settings are invalid. Test points for 24V and 0V allow external monitoring.
Physical and Environmental
Dimensions: 160 mm x 100 mm (Eurocard 3U). The card has a front panel with a handle and D-sub 25 connector (female) for external wiring, plus a 64-pin backplane connector. Operating temperature: 0°C to 50°C; humidity: 10-90% non-condensing. Vibration: 0.5g at 10-150 Hz. The board is coated with conformal lacquer for protection against coolant mist and dust.
Installation Notes
The card plugs into any free slot in the Dialog 112 PLC rack. The DIP switch on the board must be set to a unique base address (typical = 0x60 for inputs, 0x70 for outputs). External wiring uses a 25-pin male connector (solder type) – pinout is provided in the Deckel service manual. No software configuration is required; the CNC automatically recognizes the card at power-up if the address is correct.
