The IFM CR2530 is a rugged programmable controller built for mobile hydraulic and heavy-duty applications. Based on CODESYS V3 (IEC 61131-3), this controller combines high processing power with robust I/O, including digital inputs, analog inputs, PWM outputs, and CAN bus interfaces. It is designed to operate in extreme temperatures, vibration, and humidity, making it suitable for construction, agricultural, and forestry machinery.
The CR2530 features a 32-bit ARM Cortex processor with 128 MB RAM and 256 MB flash memory. Onboard I/O includes: 16 digital inputs (low/high side, 0-30V), 8 analog inputs (0-10V or 0-20mA configurable), 4 digital outputs (high side, 2A each), and 4 PWM outputs (current-controlled for proportional valves). Communication ports: 2x CAN (ISO 11898, up to 1 Mbit/s), 1x USB device, and 1x Ethernet (for programming and CODESYS visualization).
The housing is IP67 rated, fully sealed against dust and water jets. Operating temperature range: -40°C to +85°C. Power supply: 8-32V DC suitable for 12V/24V vehicle systems with reverse polarity and load dump protection (ISO 7637-2). Vibration resistance: 7.5g (10-500 Hz) per MIL-STD-202.
CODESYS V3 runtime (IEC 61131-3 languages: LD, FBD, ST, SFC, CFC)
2x CAN interfaces (CANopen, SAE J1939, ISO-BUS)
16 configurable digital inputs (digital/analog/frequency)
4 high-current PWM outputs for proportional solenoid valves
Integrated real-time clock and data logging to flash memory
Ethernet port for service and WebVisu
Metal housing with M12 connectors
Supports IFM moneo software for remote monitoring
Engineers program the CR2530 using CODESYS Development System V3.5. The controller supports multitasking with cycle times down to 1 ms for fast control loops. Predefined function blocks are available for hydraulic valve control, CAN bus communication, and engine interface. The controller also supports custom C/C++ code integration. A built-in PLC simulator allows offline testing.
On the CAN bus side, the CR2530 supports CANopen DS301, J1939 transport layer, and ISO 11783 (ISOBUS) for agricultural equipment. It can also act as a gateway between CAN and Ethernet (UDP/TCP). Modbus TCP and RTU are available as optional libraries. The controller's second CAN port can be used for redundant communication or proprietary protocols.

Common deployments include excavator joystick control, wheel loader transmission and implement management, combine harvester header control, and refuse truck body automation. The high PWM current outputs allow direct driving of proportional valves without external amplifiers. Analog inputs can read pressure sensors, joysticks, and pedal positions.
The CR2530 meets CE, EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, and RoHS. It is also certified for off-highway machinery according to ISO 14982 (electromagnetic compatibility). The IP67 protection enables mounting directly on machine booms or near hydraulic blocks without additional enclosures.
The IFM CR2530 programmable controller offers a compact, rugged, and powerful platform for mobile machine automation. Its CODESYS compatibility, broad I/O, and CAN communication capabilities simplify development of complex control strategies for vehicle and heavy equipment manufacturers. For demanding environments where reliability is critical, the CR2530 provides a proven solution.
