The Keyence VT-7SR is a touch panel HMI designed for industrial automation systems. It is part of the VT3 series family and offers a user‑friendly graphical interface for machine monitoring, parameter setting, and operation control. The VT-7SR typically communicates with PLCs from various brands, supporting multiple communication protocols. It features a bright TFT display and a resistive touch screen suitable for gloved operation. Together with the VT3‑SW4 (also referred to as VT‑SW4), a dedicated 4‑channel switch unit, the system provides a complete operator station with both touch interface and physical emergency stop and illuminated switch functions.

The VT-7SR serves as the main HMI, displaying machine status, alarms, and operator prompts. It communicates directly with the PLC via serial or Ethernet. The VT3‑SW4 attaches externally to the VT-7SR or to the display cable, providing a compact panel with an emergency stop button and three illuminated push‑buttons. The emergency stop switch is positively driven (b‑contact) and meets safety requirements for industrial machinery. The illuminated buttons can be configured to change color (green/red) based on machine state, and they support both AC and DC loads.
The VT‑7SR is programmed using Keyence VT Studio software. The software supports screen creation, recipe management, alarm handling, and data logging. It includes built‑in drivers for over 400 PLC models, allowing direct connection without additional protocol conversion. The VT3‑SW4 connects to the VT‑7SR via a dedicated cable and does not require separate programming. The emergency stop contacts are wired directly into the machine safety circuit.
This combination is used on packaging machines, assembly lines, CNC equipment, and material handling systems where operators need both a graphical display and physical controls. The illuminated buttons can be used for start, stop, reset, or manual mode selection, while the emergency stop provides immediate power removal.
The Keyence VT-7SR touch panel combined with the VT‑SW4 switch unit offers a flexible, space‑saving operator station that brings together HMI visualization and physical machine control.
