Samsung LTM213UP01 21.3-Inch LCD Panel

The Samsung LTM213UP01 is a 21.3-inch a-Si TFT (amorphous silicon thin-film transistor) active matrix liquid crystal display panel. This panel is designed for industrial applications including PLC operator interfaces, medical displays, professional monitors, and machine control visualization systems. With a resolution of 1600 × 1200 pixels (UXGA), SPVA (Super Patterned Vertical Alignment) display mode, and 16.7 million colors, it delivers sharp imagery and wide viewing angles suitable for demanding visual environments.

Technical Specifications

Panel type: a-Si TFT, active matrix. Screen size: 21.3 inches diagonally. Resolution: 1600 × 1200 pixels (UXGA). Display mode: SPVA (Super Patterned Vertical Alignment) with normally black mode. Pixel pitch: 0.1 mm. Active display area: 432 mm × 324 mm (approx., 16.9″ × 12.8″). Color depth: 16.7 million colors (8 bits per color). Brightness: 300 cd/m² (typical). Contrast ratio: 1000:1 (typical). Viewing angle: 89° up, 89° down, 89° left, 89° right (CR > 10). Response time: 16 ms typical (Tr+Tf). Interface: LVDS (Low-Voltage Differential Signaling), 2-channel, 8-bit. Backlight: 6 CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) tubes. Supply voltage: 5.0 V DC typical. Power consumption: approximately 45 W (including backlight). Operating temperature: 0°C to +50°C. Storage temperature: -20°C to +60°C. Surface treatment: Anti-glare (matte finish). Scanning frequency: 60 Hz typical.

Key Features

  • 21.3-inch a-Si TFT active matrix LCD panel

  • 1600 × 1200 (UXGA) resolution for detailed imagery

  • SPVA display mode with normally black for high contrast

  • 16.7 million colors (8-bit color depth)

  • Wide viewing angle of 89° in all directions

  • LVDS interface (2-channel, 8-bit) for high-speed data transmission

  • 6 CCFL backlight with sufficient brightness for industrial use

  • Anti-glare surface treatment reduces reflections

  • Industrial operating temperature range (0°C to 50°C)

Display Technology

The LTM213UP01 employs SPVA (Super Patterned Vertical Alignment) liquid crystal technology. In the normally black mode, the panel displays black when no voltage is applied and becomes progressively brighter as voltage increases. SPVA provides superior contrast ratios compared to traditional TN (Twisted Nematic) panels, especially in dark scenes. The 8-bit color depth enables smooth color gradations without visible banding. The anti-glare surface treatment scatters ambient light, reducing reflections from overhead lights or windows, which is beneficial for industrial operator panels under bright factory lighting.

Interface and Compatibility

The panel uses an LVDS interface requiring 2-channel (dual-link) operation. Signal specifications include clock frequency of approximately 65 MHz. The connector type is typically a 30-pin LVDS connector (JAE FI-X30 series or compatible). The interface carries pixel data (8 bits per channel), clock signals, and control signals. The panel requires a 5.0 V DC power supply for the logic circuits and a separate high-voltage supply for the CCFL backlight inverter. Typical logic current consumption is approximately 500 mA. The backlight inverter must provide AC voltages between 600V and 1500V at a frequency of 40-60 kHz to drive the 6 CCFL tubes. The panel provides mounting holes for mechanical installation into monitor enclosures or industrial operator panels.

Applications

The LTM213UP01 is used in PLC operator station monitors, industrial control room displays, medical diagnostic monitors (PACS displays), broadcast and professional video monitors, and kiosk terminals. Its high resolution (1600 × 1200) provides adequate pixel density for displaying detailed machine diagrams, process graphics, and multiple windows simultaneously. The wide viewing angle allows operators to read the display from various positions within the control room.

Environmental Considerations

The panel is designed for industrial environments with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 50°C and storage range of -20°C to 60°C. The CCFL backlight has a typical half-brightness lifetime of 40,000 to 50,000 hours, after which brightness gradually decreases. Humidity tolerance is 10% to 90% non-condensing. The panel should not be subjected to direct water spray or immersion. The anti-glare surface can be cleaned with a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with mild detergent solution. Do not use abrasive cleaners or organic solvents such as alcohol or acetone.

Mechanical Specifications

Overall dimensions: approx. 460 mm (W) × 350 mm (H) × 27 mm (D). Active display area: 432 mm × 324 mm. Weight: approximately 2.6 kg. The panel includes metal mounting brackets with M3 threaded holes on four sides for secure mounting. The rear side contains the LVDS connector and the CCFL backlight connector (6 pins). A separate inverter board (not included) is required to supply the CCFL backlight.

Conclusion

The Samsung LTM213UP01 21.3-inch LCD panel offers high resolution, excellent viewing angles, and reliable performance for industrial and professional applications. Its SPVA technology, 16.7M colors, and industrial temperature range make it a suitable choice for PLC operator displays and other machine HMIs requiring a large, high-quality screen.
