The Eaton MTDUVR230V is a field-installable undervoltage release accessory designed to fit Eaton NZM series, HKD series, and other compatible molded case circuit breakers. It ensures that the breaker automatically trips when the supply voltage falls below 70-80% of its rated value, and prevents re-closure until voltage is restored.
The undervoltage release consists of a solenoid and a built-in time delay circuit. When the voltage across its terminals drops below the dropout threshold (approximately 160 V AC for a 230 V AC rated device), the solenoid de-energizes, releasing the breaker’s trip mechanism. The module requires continuous voltage to allow the breaker to remain closed; if voltage is interrupted, the breaker trips instantly.
The MTDUVR230V is rated for 230 V AC, 50/60 Hz operation. Its power consumption is typically 5 VA during continuous energization. The device is designed for use in control circuits and must be protected by a miniature circuit breaker rated at 1 A or similar.
This undervoltage release is compatible with a wide range of Eaton breakers including NZM1, NZM2, NZM3, NZM4, and HKD series frames. It mounts into the accessory slots on the side of the breaker without requiring additional tools. A clear indication window shows the status of the release.
Undervoltage releases are essential in applications where automatic disconnection is required upon voltage loss, such as motor control circuits to prevent unexpected restarting, or in emergency stop systems that rely on voltage monitoring. They also protect equipment from operating under low voltage conditions that could cause overheating or malfunction.

The MTDUVR230V comes with screw terminals for easy wiring. It should be connected to the same phase voltage as the breaker’s line side. For three-phase systems, a separate control voltage transformer may be needed. The module has an IP20 protection rating suitable for installation inside switchgear enclosures.
The device is UL recognized and CSA certified as a component for use in industrial control equipment. It complies with IEC 60947-2 and IEC 60947-5-1 standards for auxiliary contacts and releases.
