Omron C200H-MAD01 Analog I/O Module
The Omron C200H-MAD01 is a mixed analog input and output module for the legacy C200H series PLC system. It provides four differential analog input channels and two analog output channels, suitable for process control, temperature monitoring, and actuator positioning.
Analog Input Specifications
Input types: voltage (0–10 V, -10–10 V, 1–5 V) or current (0–20 mA, 4–20 mA). Resolution is 12 bits (4096 counts) for unipolar ranges and 11 bits plus sign for bipolar. Accuracy is ±0.5% of full scale at 25°C, with temperature drift of ±0.01% per °C. Conversion time is 2.5 ms per channel (all channels scanned sequentially). Input impedance is 1 MΩ for voltage and 250 Ω for current.
Analog Output Specifications
Output ranges: voltage (0–10 V, -10–10 V) or current (0–20 mA, 4–20 mA), user-selectable via DIP switches. Resolution: 12 bits for unipolar, 11 bits + sign for bipolar. Settling time to ±0.5% is 3 ms. Output driving capability: 5 mA max for voltage output (short-circuit protected), 600 Ω load max for current output. Update rate is synchronized with the CPU scan.
Wiring and Configuration
Connections are made through a removable 18-pin terminal block (screw-type, 0.5–2.5 mm² wires). Input channels are isolated from outputs but not from each other (common reference). Shielded twisted-pair cable is recommended for signals longer than 10 meters. DIP switches on the module’s side set the range for each channel individually. The module occupies one slot in the C200H backplane and consumes 250 mA from the 5 V bus.
Addressing and Programming
In the C200H memory map, the MAD01 uses 4 input words (IR) and 2 output words (IR). Example: if the unit is in slot 2, inputs are assigned to IR020–IR023 and outputs to IR100–IR101. Data is represented as signed binary (16-bit, left-justified for 12-bit resolution). Programming uses MOV, BCD, or SCL instructions to convert raw counts to engineering units. The module supports peak hold and averaging functions via ladder logic routines.

Diagnostics and Maintenance
An LED indicator on the front panel flashes green during normal operation and red for external power loss or range error. Periodic calibration using a precision source is recommended every two years; calibration is performed via software adjust values stored in the module’s EEPROM. No field-replaceable fuses are present; overloaded outputs will go into thermal shutdown until reset by power cycle.
Applications
Common uses include pressure transmitter reading (4–20 mA), valve position feedback (0–10 V), and analog speed reference to drives. For new designs, Omron recommends migrating to CJ or NX series, but the C200H-MAD01 remains a reliable component for existing machinery upgrade and repair.
