Schneider 9070T3000D33 Programmable Logic Controller

The Schneider 9070T3000D33 is a compact programmable logic controller from the Modicon 9070 series, designed for discrete and process control applications. Its all-in-one package combines CPU, power supply, and selectable I/O points to reduce panel space and installation cost.

Hardware Configuration

The unit contains 16 digital inputs (24 VDC, sink/source), 12 digital outputs (relay, 2 A resistive), and 2 analog inputs (0–10 V, 10-bit resolution). Expansion via the local bus allows connection of up to 7 additional I/O modules (9070 series). Total I/O capacity is 128 discrete or 32 analog points. The controller includes a real-time clock with supercapacitor backup for 30 days without external power.

Processor and Memory

CPU is a 32-bit ARM core at 48 MHz, execution speed of 0.3 ms per 1K instructions (Boolean mix). User program memory is 64 KB for ladder logic and 8 KB for data registers. Retentive memory via flash stores programs and configured parameters even without battery. A mini-USB port (type B) is provided for programming with Schneider EcoStruxure Machine Expert Basic software.


Communication Interfaces

Built-in communication includes: one RS-485 port supporting Modbus RTU master/slave (up to 115.2 kbps), and one Ethernet port (10/100 Base-T) for Modbus TCP, web server, and email alerts. The Ethernet port supports up to 8 simultaneous connections and features an embedded OPC UA server for data exchange with SCADA systems. A CANopen port is optionally available via an add-on card.

Programming Features

Programming languages are LD (Ladder Diagram) and IL (Instruction List) per IEC 61131-3. The instruction set includes timers (TON, TOF), counters (CTU, CTD), math operations (ADD, SUB, MUL, DIV), PID loops (up to 4 loops with auto-tuning), and drum sequencers. The controller supports subroutine calls and interrupt tasks based on external inputs or time events.

Environmental and Mounting

Operating temperature: -10°C to 55°C, storage: -25°C to 70°C. Ingress protection rating IP20 for indoor panel installation. Dimensions: 165 mm width x 90 mm height x 70 mm depth. Mounting by DIN rail (EN 60715) or via four M4 screws. Power requirement: 100–240 VAC (50/60 Hz) or 24 VDC, consumption 15 W typical. Internal fuse (5×20 mm, 2 A) is user-replaceable.

Applications and Reliability

The 9070T3000D33 is suitable for machine control (conveyors, mixers), building automation (HVAC, lighting), and water pumping stations. Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) is calculated at 250,000 hours at 40°C ambient. The module includes watchdog timer (WDT) that resets the CPU in case of software hang; a fault relay output indicates hardware failure.

Calibration and Diagnostics

Analog inputs may be field-calibrated using the software offset/gain parameters. LEDs on the front indicate RUN, STOP, ERR, and I/O status. The web server provides diagnostic pages including CPU load, memory usage, and event log. For enhanced diagnostics, the controller supports time-stamped fault records.
