The R88D-HT10 is part of Omron's SmartStep series, delivering 1 kW of rated power for high-torque applications. It operates on 200–240 VAC single-phase input and provides continuous current of 6.4 A with peak current up to 19 A. The drive supports three control modes: position, speed, and torque, selectable via I/O terminals or fieldbus.
Rated Power: 1 kW
Input Voltage: 200–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz single phase
Output Current: 6.4 A continuous / 19 A peak
Control Method: IGBT PWM with sinusoidal commutation
Feedback: 2500 PPR incremental encoder
Protection Functions: Overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, overload, and encoder error
The R88D-HT10 includes auto-tuning of gains and filters, reducing setup time. An anti-resonance filter suppresses mechanical vibrations, while a built-in smoothing filter minimizes jerk. The drive also features a notch filter for specific frequencies that cause resonance in the load, improving stability and surface finish in machining applications.
Standard connectors include a pulse train input for step-and-direction commands, analog ±10 V inputs for speed/torque reference, and digital I/O: 7 inputs (enable, alarms, etc.) and 4 outputs (ready, positioning complete). Optional fieldbus modules (EtherCAT, DeviceNet, or MECHATROLINK-II) are available for integration with Omron PLCs.
Dimensions are 70 mm × 170 mm × 175 mm (W×H×D), weighing 1.8 kg. The drive operates in 0 to 55°C ambient temperature and up to 95% humidity non-condensing. The rated vibration resistance is 5.9 m/s² at 10–55 Hz. Cooling is natural convection with internal heat sink.
Typical uses include CNC routers, pick-and-place mechanisms, textile machinery, and packaging equipment. The drive can be paired with Omron G5-series servomotors for high efficiency. Through the built-in USB port, engineers can monitor torque, speed, and position waveforms using Omron's Servo Monitor software.
