The Vibro-meter VM600 RLC16 is a 16-channel relay output module designed for the VM600 machinery protection system. This module provides discrete alarm and trip outputs from measurement cards and system controllers, enabling direct connection to plant safety systems, annunciator panels, and programmable logic controllers.
The RLC16 is available in multiple configurations to suit different application requirements. Model 200-570-000-111 represents a standard relay module with default contact configurations. Model 200-570-101-015 offers an alternative configuration with modified contact ratings and logic options for specific installation environments. Both versions maintain the same physical dimensions and slot compatibility, allowing flexible deployment across VM600 racks.
Each of the 16 channels provides a form C relay contact (SPDT) with normally open and normally closed terminals. Contact ratings are suitable for switching industrial control loads, with silver alloy contacts ensuring reliable operation over the product lifetime. Relay coils are energized based on alarm conditions received from the system controller, with each channel independently programmable for any combination of monitored parameters across all measurement cards in the rack.
Relay Channels: 16 independent form C (SPDT) relays
Contact Rating: 250 V AC / 30 V DC, 5 A resistive
Contact Material: Silver alloy with gold flash
Operating Time: 10 ms maximum
Release Time: 5 ms maximum
Isolation: 1500 V RMS between coil and contacts
Power Supply: 24 V DC from rack backplane
Status Indication: Front panel LEDs per channel

Relay logic is configured through the VM600 MPS software, allowing engineers to assign each relay channel to specific measurement parameters, alarm levels, and logic combinations. Configurable options include latching or non-latching operation, time delays for alarm confirmation, and voting schemes for multi-channel trip decisions. Relay states can also be forced under software control for testing and commissioning purposes.
The RLC16 includes comprehensive diagnostic features to ensure reliable operation. Front panel LEDs provide visual indication of each relay channel status, with distinct colors for energized and de-energized states. The module performs continuous monitoring of relay coil integrity and reports any detected faults to the system controller. In the event of a communication failure with the controller, the module can be configured to maintain last valid states or revert to predetermined safe states.
